One of the biggest shifts Jonathan K. speaks about in this reflection is the value of listening more deeply - to entrepreneurs, to peers, and to others across the ecosystem working toward the same goal.

In his valedictorian reflection from the Catalyst Circle Cohort 1 graduation, Jonathan reflects on how peer learning created space for more honest conversations, stronger relationships, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to support entrepreneurs well.

Across countries and contexts, participants came together not just to exchange ideas but to learn from the realities each person brings into the room. Because strengthening incubators from within also means strengthening the relationships across the ecosystem around them.

If you’re looking for a space to learn alongside fellow incubator leaders, reflect on your practice, and build meaningful relationships across the ecosystem, applications for the Catalyst Circle are now open - https://www.pollinateimpact.org/what-we-do/catalyst-circle/

Across Africa, impact incubators are building entrepreneurial support systems in some of the most complex environments in the world — and doing it with a level of creativity and community‑rooted leadership that deserves global visibility.

As we head toward our Global Potluck 2026, we’re spotlighting the work of a few of the African impact incubators already in our network. They signal what's possible when practitioners lead with context, courage, and care.

If you’re involved in the impact ecosystem within Africa, the Global Potluck is your space to connect with peers who understand your realities, share your questions, and are shaping the future of incubation across the continent.

Incubators become stronger when the people inside them have space to grow - to think more clearly, communicate more confidently, and support others with greater intention.

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating the graduation of the very first peer mentoring program for incubator staff in the Global South, Catalyst Circle.

Congratulations to each of you ✨

Over the past 9 months, 48 of you have done more than build mentoring skills. You’ve built relationships across borders, shown up for complete strangers and one another, and carried that learning back into the way you support your teams and the entrepreneurs you work with.

While each of you had your own motivations and needs for joining, you all chose to invest your time and energy not just in your own growth, but in creating space to share with others, your entrepreneurs, and your team that same gift of mentorship and community.

That’s the kind of leadership, selflessness and commitment that will transform this industry. Because, ultimately, mentoring is leadership in action.

Keep being the lights that guide the way forward, remember for every entrepreneur, every incubator, and impact ecosystem that you represent.

This is just the beginning of an ongoing journey of growth, connection and impact. As you continue on your journey, we invite you to nominate friends and colleagues to participate in our next cohort

Applications for the next Catalyst Circle cohort are now open.

What does 'effective incubation' actually look like in practice?

Across the ecosystem, we often measure success through outputs - but those metrics don’t always capture how programmes are designed, how decisions are made, or how well incubators respond to the realities of the founders they support.

In this session, we step back from assumptions and look at the signals emerging from across the field - what’s working, what’s not, and where there’s still ambiguity.

Through a hands-on case study and shared discussion, we’ll connect research insights with lived experience and explore small but meaningful shifts that can strengthen how we design and run incubation programmes.

If you’re thinking about how to make your work more effective, this is a space to reflect, question, and learn alongside others.

What does it take for incubators to truly support entrepreneurs at scale?

Across the Global South, incubator teams are doing the complex, human work of guiding founders through uncertainty, growth, and impact. But behind this work are professionals navigating their own challenges -from limited opportunities for growth to the need for stronger leadership and communication skills.

In this piece, we explore why mentorship is emerging as a powerful lever for strengthening not just individuals, but entire incubation ecosystems - and how building these 'human' capabilities can transform the way support is delivered.

Because when incubator staff grow, the quality of support to entrepreneurs grows with them.

If we want stronger ecosystems, we need to invest in the people who power them.
