In 1763, the young and prodigal Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart toured all of Western Europe alongside his older sister, 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘨𝘢 𝘐𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘢 “𝘕𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘭” 𝘔𝘰𝘻𝘢𝘳𝘵. 𝘈 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, Nannerl was often billed first before Wolfgang in earlier performances because of her exceptional talent. Their father, Leopold oversaw many of her lessons and gave her a notebook which is how she inspired Wolfgang in return. As artificial intelligence, semiconductors and minerals become increasingly important in the global economy, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒋𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑼.𝑺. 𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝑷𝒂𝒙 𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒂 𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆, which seeks to strengthen the technology supply chains among allied nations. The initiative presents opportunities to expand and advance manufacturing and strengthen the country’s capacity to participate in industries that will help shape our future economy. However, as the Philippines moves toward greater participation in these global technology networks, questions have also emerged about the long-term implications about economic growth, national sovereignty, and strategic independence.

𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘸. Through Pax Silica, the Philippines could build upon existing semiconductor industry, with the abundant mineral resources, and its strategic location in the Indo-Pacific to attract investments in artificial intelligence, semiconductor, and mineral processing. Supporters of the initiative argue that Pax Silica could create opportunities for development such as the Economic Security Zone in the New Clark City, which is intended to support advanced manufacturing, AI infrastructure, and semiconductor related industries. The project may help the Philippines expand its role in the semiconductor industry by moving beyond its current position in assembly and testing, towards more advanced manufacturing activities.

Traffic congestion remains one of Metro Manila's biggest challenges especially in, 𝘌𝘋𝘚𝘈 and the 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘸𝘢𝘺 (𝘚𝘈𝘓𝘌𝘟), initiated by San Miguel Corporation, aims to improve connectivity and reduce travel time. While this could boost regional economic growth and benefit motorists and car drivers, the project's environmental impact also deserves careful consideration.

𝘾𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙘𝙪𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙨-𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙨 ‘𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚’, warning that by destroying urban canopies will worsen heat and flooding risks in the city.

However, environmental experts note that young trees 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 replace the ecological functions of mature ones. Decades-old trees store significant amounts of carbon, provide shade that helps cool surrounding areas, and support diverse plant and animal life, benefits that take many years for newly planted seedlings to restore.

Strengthening tree preservation measures, incorporating green infrastructure into road projects, and ensuring transparent environmental impact assessments can help balance mobility with long term sustainability. 🌳🍃

As Metro Manila continues to grow, developers, policy members, and the public all have a role in supporting infrastructure projects that can balance mobility with environmental sustainability. [RESEARCH DISSEMINATION]

We proudly congratulate Engr. Dylan Lopez, Computer Engineering Department alumnus of Adamson University and Technical Lead of Project STArQE representing the Quantum Computing Society of the Philippines (QCSP), for presenting our collaborative research at the IEEE International Conference on Quantum Control, Computing, and Learning (IEEE qCCL 2026) held on July 1 to 3, 2026 in Aalborg, Denmark.

The paper, “GPU-Based Hybrid Quantum Computing for EV Charging Station Decision Planning – A Case Study,” presents a hybrid quantum-classical framework for electric vehicle charging station planning. By integrating GPU-accelerated machine learning with quantum optimization techniques, the study explores how hybrid computing can improve EV charging demand forecasting and infrastructure planning, paving the way for smarter and more sustainable transportation systems.

This research is a collaborative effort among Adamson University, Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), Taiwan, De La Salle University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, and NVIDIA. The paper is one of the research outputs of Project STArQE (Quantum Algorithms for E-Vehicle and Renewable Energy Infrastructure Planning), funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) under the Philippine–Thailand Joint Research Program.

Congratulations to Engr. Dylan and the entire research team for advancing quantum computing research and representing the Philippines on the international stage. We look forward to translating these innovations into practical solutions for sustainable energy and smart mobility.
