It is with great sorrow and sadness that we are breaking our hiatus to announce that one of Old Manila Eco Market’s pillars, Sheila Leyva, joined our Creator on Thursday, 26 February 2026.
Sheila dedicated her life to promoting a sustainable lifestyle and believes that environmental stewardship begins with small choices we make every single day. Her warmth and hands-on support helped so many of OMEM members transform their practices and connect with a community that valued sustainability as much as quality and well-being.
Her work was a living testament to the power of local empowerment — she guided budding creators and producers, cultivated partnerships, and created spaces where eco-conscious products could thrive. Her thoughtful approach to waste reduction and mindful consumption inspired customers and fellow market organizers alike to rethink how they lived and shopped.
Sheila is very well known for her generosity. She touched the lives of family, friends, and many who knew her through OMEM’s stalls and conversations. She welcomed everyone with a smile and a belief that positive change happens one small step at a time.
Sheila will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless community members whose lives she helped uplift. May her legacy of sustainable living and community-based support continue to guide and inspire future generations.
Public viewing starts tomorrow, 28 February 2026 at Loyola Memorial Chapels and Crematorium, Makati City.
