Rohingya Youth Unite - Philippines participated in the opening of "Waves of Hope: A Legacy of Shared Humanity" at the Ayala Museum in Makati City. The exhibit, organized by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in partnership with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and UNHCR, commemorates the 75th Anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention and the 45th Anniversary of the Philippines' accession to the Convention.

During the event, Anwar Sadek shared his inspiring journey as a Rohingya refugee. Despite these challenges, he never gave up on his dream of education. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Philippine Government, San Beda University, partner organizations, donors, and everyone who made the CPath Programme possible. According to Anwar, education has given him more than academic knowledge, it has restored hope, dignity and the belief that refugees deserve opportunities to build meaningful futures.

Anwar also dedicated his message to thousands of refugee children who are still waiting for the same opportunity. He emphasized that refugees do not ask for special treatment, only a chance to learn, contribute and live with dignity. "Every refugee has a story. Every refugee has dreams. Sometimes, all it takes is one opportunity to change an entire life."

Welcome to the RYU-PH Family 😊

Rohingya Youth Unite – Philippines (RYU-PH) welcomes Mohammed Ibrahim and Monjur Rahman, the 3rd batch of Rohingya scholars who arrived in the Philippines through the government-backed Complementary Pathways Program to pursue higher education at Columban College, Inc (CCI).

The scholars were warmly welcomed by the CCI, RYU-PH and their foster guardian as they toured the campus, met CCI administrators, completed their entrance examinations and enrolled in their chosen degree programs.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Columban College, Inc, RhEAP Bangladesh, the Government of the Philippines, UNHCR, Pathways Pilipinas and all partners for making this life changing opportunity possible.

CCI continues to make history by opening its doors to Rohingya students, proving that when refugees are given access to higher education, they can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.

Welcome to the Philippines, welcome to Columban College and most importantly, welcome to the RYU-PH family! We wish you both success in this exciting new chapter. All the best 😊.

"Together We Rise, Together We Move Forward."

Rohingya Youth Unite – Philippines (RYU-PH) extends its deepest sympathy and unwavering solidarity to all those affected by the devastating floods and landslides in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives, injuries, and displacement caused by these disasters. In the refugee camps, thousands of Rohingya families are once again facing immense hardship as shelters have been destroyed, access to essential services has been disrupted, and lives have been lost due to landslides. Our hearts are with the families mourning their loved ones and with everyone struggling during these difficult hours.

At the same time, we stand in solidarity with all people affected by the widespread flooding in Myanmar, including Rohingya communities and people from all backgrounds who are enduring the devastating impacts of this natural disaster. In times of crisis, humanity must rise above all differences, and every life deserves protection, dignity, and compassion.

RYU-PH calls upon the international community, humanitarian organizations, and concerned stakeholders to strengthen emergency relief efforts, ensure the protection of vulnerable communities, and provide timely humanitarian assistance to all affected populations in Bangladesh and Myanmar.

During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers with our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh and Myanmar. May those who have lost their lives rest in peace, may the injured recover soon, and may all affected families find strength, safety, and hope during these hardships.

Best Regards,
Rohingya Youth Unite – Philippines (RYU-PH)
