TEACHERS in three of the country's prestigious universities are poised to go on strike over alleged unfair labor practices.

Pormal na naghain ng planong welga noong Marso 26 ang mga g**o sa Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila dahil walang nabuong kasunduan ang kanilang pitong buwang negosasyon ukol sa collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

Isinagawa ito bilang pagtutol sa forced retirement policy—na mula 1978 pa ipinapatupad ng Lyceum—na inoobliga ang mga g**o at kawani na magretiro matapos ang 20 taong trabaho sa unibersidad.

Tulad ng kaguruan ng Lyceum, naghain din ng notice of strike noong Marso 25 ang University of Santo Tomas Faculty Union, matapos magkaroon ng deadlock sa negosasyon ng kanilang CBA.

Naaantala pa rin ang pagpapamahagi ng higit P220 milyong tuition hike share ng mga g**o at kawani mula 2020 hanggang 2023. Ayon sa UST, ipapamahagi lamang ito kapag nilagdaan na ang CBA.

“We are not greedy. We are not asking for the moon. We are only asking for what is just, what the law says na dapat ay nasa amin and should be given timely,” giit ni Gonzales.
