Mahirap maging teenager ngayon with social media, information overload, and disinformation 😖 Kaya napaka-importante na pakinggan, suportahan, at ma-empower natin sila 🙌🏽

I joined a field mission in Sogod, Southern Leyte and got to meet their youth advocates during a TrucKABATAAN day. Imagine a fully equipped, air-conditioned clinic on wheels where teens can get a check up, and a gym full of adolescents learning about their reproductive health and getting peer counseling—when you empower teens, they can empower themselves to make better choices. 🤍 I was so inspired meeting many young volunteers like Ami and Sai, who have now made it their mission to help educate and empathize with their fellow teens in taking care of their overall health.

My wish is that more public and private partnerships become pro active in supporting projects like the TrucKABATAAN that clearly make a big impact on lowering the rates of adolescent pregnancies in different parts of the country. 🇵🇭

is one of the projects of the Joint Programme on Accelerating the Reduction of or , supported by the Korean Government through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and Southern Leyte is one of their most impacted sites. JPARAP is a collaborative initiative with the Department of Health and local governments, UNFPA, UNICEF, and World Health Organization (WHO) to address the multifaceted nature of adolescent pregnancy. 🇺🇳

Every 40 seconds, someone dies by su***de, but every conversation can be a chance to save a life. 💬

Pay attention to sudden changes in mood, behavior, or sleep. Notice when someone starts withdrawing or using substances more often. These may be signs that they are struggling silently.

Check in. Ask how they are doing. Listen without judgment. Your concern could be the lifeline they need.

The Western Pacific Region has made progress in to***co control, but implementation remains uneven.

Enforcement gaps, to***co industry interference and the rapid spread of new to***co and ni****ne products are slowing progress toward the 2030 to***co-use reduction target.

This World No To***co Day, WHO calls for stronger leadership, comprehensive laws, better enforcement and tougher protection of public health policies from to***co and related industry interference.

🚩 They say they care about people. Look closer.

To***co companies use charity drives, fake advocacy groups, and flavored vapes to protect their business, not public health. Their every move aims to keep people smoking.

The WHO FCTC Secretariat debunks these claims and exposes their tactics:

Leading the way in to***co control, with some of the Philippines’ toughest policies, Baguio City continues to demonstrate how strong local leadership, evidence-based policies, and community action can create healthier environments for all.

During the visit of WHO Western Pacific Regional Director Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala and WHO Philippines Representative Dr Eunyoung Ko, local initiatives highlighted Baguio’s commitment to protecting communities from the harms of to***co and va**ng.

From smoke-free public spaces and enforcement efforts to smoking cessation services and youth engagement, the city is showing how local action can drive measurable public health impact.

Baguio has also strengthened its efforts through regular to***co use surveys among youth and adults, helping guide targeted interventions to support evidence-based decision-making.

As progress continues, the opportunity now is to go even further toward a ni****ne-free generation where young people never even start using to***co or va**ng products.
