UPDATE: MAAARING BUMOTO HANGGANG OCT. 25!

Together, let us help Kuya Edgar take a step closer to his dream of opening a small restaurant that serves and uplifts the community of former street dwellers in Lupang Pangako.

Kuya Edgar once lost his dreams to poverty and homelessness. For 26 long years, the streets became his home. But through the CCT Kaibigan Ministry, Inc., God’s grace met him in the simplest of ways—a shared meal, a word of friendship, and a reminder of his forgotten dreams.

That moment became his turning point. From being lost, he was found. From being hungry, he became a provider. From cycling in and out of jail, he is now a follower of Jesus. From being alone, he is now a husband, a father, and a mentor to kaibigans (street dwellers) who walk the same hard road he once did.

Through his small sari-sari (variety) store, Kuya Edgar has already been sowing seeds of hope in Lupang Pangako. Now, he dreams of something bigger: a small restaurant, not just to serve food, but to serve hope by employing former street dwellers and giving them the same chance he received.

A Prayer to The Big ONE

From fear of the “big one” to faith in the Big ONE.

O Sovereign Lord, by Whose command the mountains stand and at Whose Word the foundations of the earth were laid—we come before Your throne of grace. We look upon our beloved Philippines, and we see our nation shadowed by suffering. Yet, this shadow reminds us of the crown of thorns pressed upon the brow of Your Son.

Our land is shaken by tremors, and our hearts are unsettled by the threat of what man calls the “big one.” But as we see this image of suffering, we fix our eyes on the victory of the Cross. We declare that the authority of Jesus Christ, purchased by His own precious blood, is supreme over these islands. In that authority, we as Your people find a reality greater than fear: a peace that surpasses all understanding, and a covenant with the Big One Who holds all power in His hands.

In the midst of earthquakes and calamities, when the ground beneath us trembles, we declare: You alone are our firm foundation. You are our refuge, our strength, our ever-present help in trouble.

For every soul in the path of this calamity, we appeal for Your divine mercy. For every heart gripped by fear, we speak the peace that was purchased at the Cross. Bring Your comfort to those who mourn and Your healing to the wounded.

For the displaced and the hungry, we ask for Your provision, Lord. You are the God Who provides a Lamb, and by that same grace, we ask, provide for Your people now. Let the mercy that flows from Calvary flow through the hands of Your church to meet every need. Let this be the hour, O God, when Your people rise in faith and selfless love—swift to bring Your hope to the hurting.

Grant wisdom and discernment to our leaders, responders, and volunteers. We pray that You, O God, would place Your hand upon them. Let Your Holy Spirit guide their decisions and actions, empowering them to lead with integrity, compassion, and a courage that is not their own, for the sake of every soul they serve.

Lord, let this shaking serve Your holy purpose. May the brokenness of our land reveal our nation’s desperate need for a Savior. Let the trembling of the ground turn hearts to the unshakable Rock of Ages, and may many find refuge and eternal hope in the cleansing blood of the Lamb. May faith communities rise, even from the fragments of calamities, declaring Your goodness and glory.

Shield us, O God, from further harm. We place our nation, in all its turmoil and all its hope, under the shadow of Your Son’s suffering—secured by His victorious blood and sealed by Your Holy Spirit. You are our faithful God, and our Abba Father.

In the holy and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

CCT-FED is advocating to empower cooperatives for Social Enterprise Development in partnership with the LCDOP Chapter - Metro Manila Cooperative Development Officers (MEMACDO), and the Regional Cooperative Development Council in NCR (RCDC-NCR) in conjunction with the holding of its 1st Quarter RCDC-NCR General Assembly and Policy Consultative Educators Forum (CEF) focused on Empowering Cooperatives for Social Enterprise Development (SED) with the theme: “Living our Social Purpose”. It will be held on November 25-26, 2024 at the CCT Tagaytay Retreat and Training Center, Kaykulot Road, Tagaytay City.
