Orchestra of the Filipino Youth

Orchestra of the Filipino Youth Ang Misyon’s flagship music program and main performing arm is the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth (OFY).

Under the baton of Gerard Salonga and the guidance of professional mentors, the OFY curriculum is specifically curated for a high-quality youth orchestra. The one-on-one lessons, sectional workshops, and masterclasses give them the opportunity to learn challenging pieces ranging from classical and pop music. Members of the OFY have also grown to become mentors of the younger generation, sharing their learnings and experiences from Ang Misyon as a way of paying it forward.

The OFY Flute Section just finished a recital that celebrated each musician’s individual growth and dedication. Each flutist brought their own “voice” and discipline, making every piece uniquely their own.

The recital culminated in a special moment of collaboration, as mentors Crystal and Jojo joined the students for two final ensemble pieces—bringing together mentorship, learning, and music in its most meaningful form 💛

This recital is a reminder of how far young musicians can come, and how much further they can go. Congratulations, OFY Flute! 🪈🎶

Roses are red, violets are blue, team building was fun, and we loved playing with you! 🌹🎶

Our recent team building reminded us that harmony doesn’t just happen on stage. This Valentine’s, we’re celebrating friendship and the kind of love that keeps our orchestra in sync. Because beyond every performance is a bond built on trust, teamwork, and heart ❤️

An evening made possible by advocacy, collaboration, and shared love for music 💛

Our heartfelt appreciation to First Philippine Holdings and Mr. Federico R. Lopez for their never-ending support for our young musicians; without their support, their music would not have found its stage. We are also deeply honored by the presence of the Ambassador of Singapore to the Philippines, Her Excellency Constance See, and the Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines, His Excellency Endo Kazuya, whose presence made the evening even more special.

Sincere thanks to the Proscenium Theater team for once again welcoming us and for being our home for the third time (watch out for the fourth 👀)

What a night to remember 🎶✨ Triumphs of Tchaikovsky was nothing short of unforgettable, from the tuning up to the standing ovation that filled the concert hall.

The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth surely performed with excellence, heart, and purpose—delivering a performance that moved, inspired, and reminded us why OFY stands for artistry, advocacy, and the power of young Filipino musicians. The audience’s overwhelming response said it all. Under the artistic direction of Maestro Gerard Salonga, whose musical vision, clarity, and patience brought every note to life. And to Dio Saraza, Jr., whose solo performance shone with brilliance and depth—thank you for a moment we will long remember 🎻

This was more than a concert; it was a celebration of passion, discipline, and the collective spirit of OFY. Grateful, inspired, and already looking forward to what’s next 💫 Thank you everyone!

3 days to go!

As we count down to concert day, please be informed that Gavril Tiburcio, who was scheduled to appear as soloist for the Triumphs of Tchaikovsky Concert on February 1, has had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances. Diomedes Saraza, Jr. will perform in his place.

The repertoire will proceed as planned and promises an evening that shares the beauty of the music while celebrating the passion, discipline, and musical excellence of the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth.

We look forward to sharing a powerful and inspiring concert experience that highlights the artistry of OFY's young musicians and the spirit of ELEVATE.

We thank our audiences and partners for their continued support and understanding. Thank you and see you on Sunday!
