Celebrating PEACE month: Philippine Arab Cooperation Council Inc. (PACCI) had the honor of participating in the opening of "Waves of Hope: A Legacy of Shared Humanity," an immersive exhibition held at the Ayala Museum in Makati City last July 21, 2026. The event commemorated two important milestones: the 75th anniversary of the 1951 Geneva Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees and the 45th anniversary of the Philippines' accession to the Convention in 1981. It brought together representatives from Government Agencies, the United Nations Agencies, Diplomatic Missions, CSOs, Refugee leaders, Scholars, and other partners committed to refugee protection.

The Philippine Arab Cooperation Council Inc. (PACCI) participated in the Public Forum on the Human Rights Situation of Asylum Seekers at Philippine Ports of Entry, a key stakeholder engagement convened by the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) last June 4, 2026. The forum brought together representatives from government agencies, international organizations, civil society, and humanitarian partners to examine the challenges faced by asylum seekers in the Philippines and to identify practical, rights-based solutions that strengthen protection mechanisms and uphold the country’s humanitarian commitments.

As a nation that has opened its doors to people seeking safety and dignity, the Philippines reaffirms its commitment to upholding the rights of every person, regardless of nationality or status.

PACCI participated during the Global Refugee Forum (GRF) Progress Review 2025, held from the 15th – 17th of December 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, marked a significant milestone in the implementation of the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR). Serving as a mid-term stocktaking exercise between the 2023 Global Refugee Forum and the next full Forum in 2027, the Progress Review assessed achievements, remaining gaps, and emerging priorities in international responsibility-sharing for refugees. The event brought together governments, United Nations (UN) agencies, international and local civil society organizations, faith-based groups, donors, and refugee-led organizations from across the globe.

The Philippine Arab Cooperation Council, Inc. (PACCI) contributed in the engagement hosted by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Clark, Pampanga from December 10 to 11, 2025. The event brought together senior officials from UNHCR, the Department of Justice, Congress, and the Senate, highlighting the Philippine government’s longstanding humanitarian response and support for refugees and displaced populations.

The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of legislative staff from the House of Representatives and the Senate to advance legislation that upholds the rights and promotes the welfare of refugees, asylum seekers, stateless persons, populations at risk of statelessness, and internally displaced persons—collectively referred to as the people we work for and with.
