DAY OF ENSHRINEMENT

Remembrance has no fixed season. While the CCT family usually observes this cherished tradition in May and October, this year we came together earlier at CCT Lupang Pangako in Cabanatuan City and nationwide via Zoom. As we gathered, we remembered that the lives and sacrifices of our departed coworkers deserve our gratitude every day.

On this Day of Enshrinement, we honored three beloved servants of God—staff members Sis. Joyce Sheryl Colitorio and Pastor Antonio “Tony” Reyes, and trustee and ministry friend, Bro. Jefferson Tomas. As their names were lovingly placed in the Walls of Remembrance, we worshiped God for the faith, sacrifice, and service that marked their lives and continue to point us to Christ.

CCT president Pastora Sandy Togonon captured the heart of the gathering when she said, “Our lives are joined together. Our relationships are forever. Though our departed coworkers are now in another place, we live by faith and not by sight. In the Lord, we remain one family as we remember them, embrace the families they left behind, and celebrate the life we shared in ministry.”

Our founder and president emeritus, Ate Ruth Callanta, also led us to appreciate that every hour our coworkers gave to CCT was an hour they could have spent with their own families. Their long days, sacrifices, and choices became offerings to God. “This is not just a mission statement,” she said. “This is a life being lived.” We honor those who went ahead by remaining true to the work the Lord entrusted to us and carrying their mission forward.

The program was hosted by Kuya Nat De Jesus and Pastor David Campanero, with Pastor Dalmacio Dayao leading the opening prayer and the Lupang Pangako Salinlahi Dance Ministry calling the assembly to worship. Pastor Dane Campanero then led us to Hebrews 13:7: “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”

Pastor Dane explained that remembering keeps their testimony alive and helps us hold their example in our hearts. Considering their lives means looking closely at the fruit of their faith. Imitating them means following the faith that enabled them to proclaim the Gospel, endure hardship, and continue serving even at great personal cost.

As the families enshrined the names of their loved ones and doves were released into the sky, we were assured that while our departed are now in another place, in Christ, we remain united. The bonds formed through faith, service, and love endure in the people they served, the families they loved, and the ministry they helped build.

We grieve their passing and give thanks to God for lives that proclaimed His goodness. We also hold firmly to the blessed hope that death does not have the final word. Their legacy moves us to continue serving and to press on in the work of transformation, proclaiming the Gospel wherever the Lord sends us. The same God Who sustained them now carries us forward and strengthens us for the mission He has entrusted to us.

May we remember them often, consider the fruit of their lives, and imitate the faith with which they followed Christ. Their names are engraved upon the walls, and their witness remains deeply engraved upon our hearts.

Until we meet again at our Savior’s feet. 🕊️

This morning, the CCT family gathered once again to seek the Lord, worship His name, and lift our hearts together in prayer during our Nationwide Prayer and Worship G*thering, hosted by the CCT CALABA (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas) at the CCT Support Office and via Zoom.

Though we may be serving in different places, ministries, and communities, we are reminded that we do not serve alone. We are one family in Christ—called to walk together, to care for one another, and to be a people who willingly carry each other’s burdens.

Rev. Ferdinand Ventura, Head Pastor of City of Hope Urban Mission-Philippine Missionary Fellowship, guided us through Galatians 6:1–10, with the theme, “Damayan, Pagtutulungan sa Pasanin, at ang Tunay na Ebanghelyo.” He reminded us that just as Christ loved us by giving His life for us, we must also extend the same love by becoming a source of strength and encouragement to others. Rev. Ferdinand also challenged us to practice damayan by lovingly correcting one another, carrying each other’s burdens, taking responsibility for the things entrusted to us, and persevering in doing good.

We were also blessed to hear the testimony of our coworker, Sis. Elaine Borata, who has been serving with CCT as a faith community missionary for 16 years. Her journey demonstrated the reality of God’s grace and power to redeem even the greatest trials in our lives. As we learned from Galatians 6, the Lord used godly friends and the church to correct and guide Sis. Elaine throughout her faith journey.

Ultimately, we partook of the Lord’s Supper as one family in Christ, taking to heart our Savior’s love and sacrifice on the Cross. His love is the foundation of our fellowship, and He alone is the Cornerstone of our faith and shared mission.

As we return to our respective homes, workplaces, and ministries, may we continue to carry the heart of Jesus. Where there is a burden, may a brother or sister be moved to share the load. Where there is weakness, may someone step in to encourage. Where there is pain, may someone offer comfort. And wherever there is a need, may we respond with the love of Christ.

To God alone be all the glory!

ARAW NG MGA BAYANI

Tuwing huling Lunes ng Agosto, ipinagdiriwang natin ang Pambansang Araw ng mga Bayani. Ito ang araw kung saan ginugunita natin ang sakripisyo, katapangan, at ambag ng mga Pilipinong lumaban para sa kalayaan at kaunlaran ng ating bansa.

Dahil laging nakatatak sa atin ang mga sikat na pangalan sa mga aklat ng kasaysayan, marahil naiisip ng ilan sa atin na ang pagiging bayani ay para lamang sa mga matatalino, matatapang, mayayaman, o may makapangyarihang posisyon. Ngunit ang totoo, napakaraming bayani ang hindi masyadong kilala o karaniwan sa atin tulad na lamang nina Teresa Magbanua: isang simpleng g**o bago naging mandirigma, ni Macario Sakay: isang sastre bago naging lider ng rebolusyon, at ang libu-libong Pilipinong walang pangalan sa mga bantayog ngunit nagbuwis ng buhay para sa bayan.

Sila ay mga ordinaryong Pilipino din. Kagaya mo, kagaya ko.

Sa panahon natin ngayon, iba na ang mukha ng laban. Maaaring hindi na natin kailangang humawak ng sandata, ngunit buhay na buhay pa rin ang tawag ng kabayanihan sa bawat isa sa atin. Nakikita ito sa ating mga sakripisyo araw-araw—sa paghahanapbuhay nang marangal para maibigay ang pangangailangan ng ating mga pamilya, sa pagpili na gumawa ng tama kahit walang nakatingin, sa pagmamalasakit sa mga higit na nangangailangan, at maging sa simpleng pagsunod sa alituntunin ng pamayanan.

Ang kabayanihan din ay karaniwang nag-uumpisa sa malalim na pananampalataya. Sa pag-aalay natin sa Diyos ng ating mga ginagawa, sa pagpili nating maglingkod gamit ang Kanyang mga biyaya, sa pananalangin natin para sa isa’t isa—lahat ng ito ay kinakasangkapanan ng Diyos upang maging daluyan ng Kanyang pag-ibig.

Nawa ay huwag tayong mapagod sa paggawa ng mabuti at patuloy nating mahalin ang ating kapwa higit pa sa ating mga sarili. Ito ang tunay na diwa ng bayanihan.

NINOY AQUINO DAY

“There is no greater nation on earth than our Motherland. No greater people than our own. Serve them with all your heart, with all your might and with all your strength.”

On August 21, 1983, the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. was assassinated upon his return to the Philippines following years of exile. His sacrifice became a defining catalyst in our nation’s historic struggle for democracy and freedom.

Today, Ninoy’s legacy of love for the Philippines rings truer than ever—a clarion call to action for us all. An invitation for us to embody the patriotism he lived—moving beyond words to a life of conviction, service, and commitment to stand for what is right for the welfare of the Filipino people. His words—to serve the nation with everything we have—mirror the Greatest Commandment: to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). In truth, these are inseparable; we love God by serving His people.

As Filipino Christians, may we truly love God and honor our heritage by faithfully serving our fellow countrymen, especially those in need, while steadfastly living out the values of faith, truth, justice, compassion, and love—all for the glory of God!

Childhood is meant to be a season of learning, playing, and dreaming big. But for children living on the streets and in difficult situations, those simple joys are quickly overshadowed by hardship.

At a young age, some children are already faced with hunger, the need to work or beg, and the struggle of simply getting through each day.

Paaralan sa Tarima helps these children by creating a safe space where they can learn, play, grow, and most importantly—experience the love and goodness of God.

We are still overflowing with gratitude after a meaningful “Come and See” visit with Bro. Lawrence Tong, Operations Mobilization International Director Emeritus, and his wife, Sis. Susan!

Operation Mobilisation (OM) is a global Christian missionary movement active in over 110 countries—sharing the Gospel and empowering unreached and marginalized communities through evangelism, community transformation, and global mobilization.

Bro. Lawrence joined OM in 1978 and has served faithfully for decades alongside his wife, including their impactful years ministering aboard the OM ship MV Doulos.

Known as the world’s oldest active passenger ocean-going vessel during her service, the MV Doulos traveled from port to port bringing knowledge, help, and hope through her floating bookstore and cross-cultural outreach programs. Serving aboard this unique platform helped shape their lifelong dedication to global evangelism and leadership.

Last week, we were spiritually refreshed as we fellowshipped with both Bro. Lawrence and Sis. Susan in our Support Office, CCT Lupang Pangako in Cabanatuan, Parola (Tondo, Manila), and the CCT Tagaytay Retreat and Training Center (TRTC).

Bro. Lawrence imparted so much wisdom on prayer life, faith, and discipleship.

Drawing from Matthew 14:22, he reminded us that even amidst the demands of ministry, Jesus prioritized prayer so He never served on an empty tank. Just as Peter stepped out onto the water, Bro. Lawrence encouraged us to take courageous leaps of faith, knowing that stepping out in trust is a brave act honored by the Lord.

Bro. Lawrence also shared his miraculous testimony, where God provided in the midst of a national financial crisis. By choosing to act in faith, his team witnessed firsthand God’s divine provision in seemingly impossible circumstances.

On discipleship, he proposed a Christ-centered vision for mentorship, encouraging leaders to act as “cheerleaders” rather than fixers. He advocated for consistency and establishing healthy boundaries, emphasizing that discipleship is often observed and learned through example.

We were also privileged to walk Bro. Lawrence and Sis. Susan through the wholistic journey of transformation of the people we are serving in CCT Lupang Pangako, and TRTC. We were so blessed and are deeply grateful to see Bro. Lawrence’s humble leadership and encouraging mentorship up close, and we pray that the Lord will continue to bless him and his family, and expand his witness— for the glory of His Name!

Sa mga salitang ating binibigkas, sinusulat, at ipinapasa sa iba, naisasalaysay natin kung sino tayo bilang isang bayan.

Ang wika ang tahanan ng ating mga kuwento—ng ating kasaysayan, kultura, paniniwala, pangarap, at mga pagpapahalagang ipinapasa mula sa isang salinlahi patungo sa susunod. Sa bawat katutubong wika, may natatanging tinig ng isang pamayanan; sa bawat salitang sariling atin, may bahaging bumubuo sa ating pagkakakilanlan bilang Pilipino.

Ngunit ang wika ay hindi lamang para sa pagpapahayag. Ito rin ay paraan ng pakikinig at pakikipagkapwa. Sa pamamagitan nito, nauunawaan natin ang karanasan ng iba, naibabahagi ang ating mga kuwento, at nagkakaroon ng puwang ang bawat tinig—lalo na yaong madalas hindi naririnig.

Bilang mga Kristiyanong pinagkalooban ng Diyos ng kakayahang magsalita, magsulat, lumikha, at magbahagi, nawa'y gamitin natin ang mga kaloob na ito upang maglingkod, magbuklod, at magbigay ng pag-asa. Higit sa lahat, upang maghandog ng papuri at karangalan hindi lamang sa bayan, kundi sa ating Diyos na Lumikha.

Ngayong Buwan ng Wika, ipagdiwang natin ang mga wikang nagbibigay-buhay sa ating pagka-Pilipino at nagbibigay-tinig sa ating mga pamayanan.

Pahalagahan natin ang sariling atin. Pakinggan ang bawat tinig. Ipagpatuloy ang mga kuwentong nagmula sa ating mga ninuno, at gamitin ang ating sariling mga salita upang hubugin ang isang bayang mas nagkakaisa, may malasakit, may pananampalataya, at may pag-asa. Sapagkat ang wika ay hindi lamang salamin ng ating pagkatao; ito ay buhay na pamana at tulay sa mga susunod pang henerasyon. Sa pamamagitan ng ating wika, patuloy nating buhayin ang gunita ng ating bayan at ang tinig ng ating salinlahi.

From the Pit to the Palace: Faithful in Every Season

“So Pharaoh asked them, ‘Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?’ Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, ‘Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace...’”
—Genesis 41:38–40

As heavy rains poured across many parts of the country this morning, we were reminded of the unshakeable faithfulness of God throughout the changing seasons of our lives. Indeed, God’s greatest work often begins in the small, unseen areas of our journey. With hearts united in worship, the CCT family gathered for the Nationwide Prayer and Worship G*thering, fervently hosted by CCT Eastern Visayas.

CCT Eastern Visayas Regional Council Member Bro. Charlie Labarda, MD, PhD invited us to learn from the different seasons of Joseph’s life. He encouraged us to stay faithful in the waiting, reminding us that “Kairos” moments—God’s appointed times—are sometimes discovered in times of greatest challenges.

The CCT family also entered a meaningful time of prayer, offering our praises to our sovereign God, surrendering our fears and desires to His own timeline, thanking Him for His abundant grace, and lifting our prayer requests to Him. We particularly lifted our nation to God as CCT Eastern Visayas led us in singing “Purihin Mo ang Diyos, Oh Pilipinas.” We also partook of the Lord’s Supper, remembering the sacrifice that unites us as one family.

We were immensely blessed by the testimony of Ate Cristina C. Olemberio, CCT faith community missionary from Catbalogan, Samar. Growing up as one of 15 siblings, she faced poverty, family conflict, and seasons of rebellion. But God turned things around as she turned to faith years later. Despite the pandemic and deep financial struggles, God’s grace sustained Ate Cristina and her family. Today, she has finished her studies and helps provide for her family. Her once-divided home is now peaceful, with her siblings attending church and her family supportive of her faith. Praise God!

We concluded with thanksgiving and fellowship as we joyfully celebrated our August birthday celebrants. As the rains continued to pour, our time together reminded us: we may not always understand the season, but we can always trust the God of all seasons.
In the pit, He is forming us. In the waiting, He is preparing us. From the pit to the palace, God is sovereign. And in all things, He is working for His good purposes.

All glory belongs to God alone!
