Mahigit limang dekada na ang lumipas mula nang ipataw ang Batas Militar โ€” marami mang nagbago ngunit ang mga sugat na iniwan nito ay hindi basta-bastang nabubura sa paglipas ng panahon.

Sa araw na ito, inaalala natin ang maraming Pilipinong nawalan ng kalayaan, mga pamilyang naapektuhan ng pang-aabuso, mga mamamahayag, estudyante, aktibista, at ordinaryong mamamayang piniling ipaglaban ang kanilang karapatan at kalayaan sa kabila ng takot.

Hindi natin binabalikan ang kasaysayan upang manatili sa nakaraan. Binabalikan natin ito upang mas maunawaan kung bakit mahalagang ipaglaban ang kalayaan ngayon.
