๐๏ธ The goal of the SMC Skyway Project is to reduce traffic, but at what cost? Along its estimated 19-kilometer course above the Pasig, the proposed elevated expressway (PAREX) will worsen air and noise pollution, endangering Manila's sole remaining lung. The condominiums beside the river would lose value. Only a small percentage of Metro Manila's 12 million citizens ๐๏ธ who own automobiles would profit from the roadway, as the majority face significant restrictions on their access to parks and open spaces. Less than one-tenth of the PAREX's estimated cost would be required to construct a linear park or esplanade along the full river's length on both banks. Together with areas of greenery similar to Arroceros Forest Park, the entire area of this new facility would It seems excessive to sacrifice Arroceros, which is home to more than 3,500 plants๐ณ๐ชด and several species. It all comes down to this delicate balance between nature and urbanity.
