Today serves as a reminder of the rich history of the Philippines. On this very day, ๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ด, ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒโthe Philippine flag that flies above our heads today was first unfurled and introduced to the world! ๐ต๐ญ
From its three ๐๐๐๐๐๐: ๐๐๐๐ฉ๐, it symbolizes the liberty, eqaulity, and fraternity. ๐ฝ๐ก๐ช๐, represents the peace, truth, and justice. And ๐๐๐, symbolizes the patriotism, courage, and valor of the people. โช๐ต๐ด
The golden sun symbolizes the unity, democracy, and freedom. The eight rays surrounding it represents the eight provinces that first revolted against the Spaniards. Lastly, the three stars, each designated to the three main island groups of our country, ๐๐ช๐ฏ๐ค๐ฃ, ๐๐๐จ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฏ, ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ค.โ

The first flag of our country was hand-sewn in Hong Kong by Marcela Agoncillo, her daughter Lorenza, and Delfina Herbosa Natividad. The flag took five days to complete, and was first raised on this same day after the Battle of Alapan in Imus, Caviteโright after, it was officially waved during the declaration of independence on June 12, 1898. โ๏ธ
