๐๐ฎ ๐. ๐๐๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐ก๐, LEAP Inc. Board Member, School Head of Ubaldo L. Conde High School in Puerto Princesa City, and holder of a Master's degree in Reading Education from the Philippine Normal University. Drawing from both research and practice, Mr. Maravilla addressed the growing concern over struggling readers and emphasized the crucial role that educators and communities play in nurturing a culture of reading.
The webinar opened with a discussion of the Six Elements of Reading and their implications for effective reading instruction. Participants were then guided through an interactive workshop on designing data-driven reading programs that respond to learners' actual needs. Teachers and literacy advocates also engaged in a session on selecting, analyzing, and evaluating literary materials appropriate for beginning readers and other reading levels.
The activity served as a space for collaboration among educators and literacy advocates committed to improving reading outcomes for Filipino children. It also marks the beginning of a promising partnership of LEAP Inc., Aklat Alamid, Sarangani Writers League, and reading educators in the country, to be involved in initiatives that promote literacy, literature, and lifelong learning.
