As we close off the Celebration of World Philosophy Day, we'd like to give a recap of what happened on the opening of the program. The highlights of the stimulating discourses, which not only opened the possibilities to the mass of the philosophy to students in facing their upcoming thesis, but also provided grounds in their perception of the complexities that we have yet to unravel.

๐—๐—จ๐—ฆ๐—ง ๐—›๐—”๐—ฃ๐—ฃ๐—˜๐—ก๐—˜๐—— | Gina A. Opiniano, PhD. started off the Day 2 of the celebration of the World Philosophy Day 2025 at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with the title, " Contours of Care: Philosophy, Vulnerability, and Justice."

Opiniano mentions the hardship of diverse gender identities in philosophy as a male dominated field. She expand it to scope differently abled bodies and other injustices in the society.

She opens a solution to this problem by diversifying voices not only in the academe nut also in the society we live in. Mentioning that "we should use the meaning of philosophy which is the love for wisdom to make it inclusive and violence free."

๐’๐๐„๐€๐Š๐„๐‘ ๐‘๐„๐‚๐€๐ | Frederico Jose Lagdameo, PhD, further enriched philosophy majors with his talk titled "Polytechnic Education at the Crossroads: Humanizing Learning by Philosophizing Technology."

Lagdameo investigated how polytechnic universities like the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) produce technical competence but fail to humanize students once they step out of the university and into employment. He approaches this problem by accepting the progress of technology and learning from it, emphasizing that if technology is not utilized efficiently, it could crush a person's spirit.

"If we fail to train students in the philosophical examination of AI, we produce not innovators but operators; not thinkers but users; not citizens but consumers," a quote from his presentation.
