The Philippine Misereor Partnership Inc. (PMPI) successfully concluded its three-day Policy Lobby Training, held from April 14 to 16, 2026, at the Manresa Retreat House in Quezon City. The first day's discussion was led by Ms. Candy Hidalgo participants strengthened their advocacy strategies for the Rights of Nature and the Ecocide Bill, alongside vital local legislation aimed at protecting the environment and communities across various PMPI clusters. Through intensive, hands-on workshops and activities, attendees gained the technical expertise necessary to advance these legislative goals. 🌱

The training commenced with a deep dive into the context of environmental advocacy, featuring comprehensive sessions on stakeholder analysis and political mapping led by Ms. Mel J. Asia. This was followed by a session led by Ms. Ma. Lourdes Eudela from Monday.com, who imparted practical communication strategies essential for effective policy lobbying. 📜

On the second day, the focus shifted toward local legislation, where Atty. Karen Galicia discussed the strategic influence of NGOs and People’s Organizations in development governance. This was further enriched by Mr. Conrad Vargas of PI-COPI, who shared practical insights and successes in filing Rights of Nature-enshrined environmental ordinance in Infanta, Quezon.🫶🌿

On the final day, Ms. Jessica Reyes-Cantos from Social Watch conducted a workshop on the government budget process, emphasizing its role as an essential oversight tool. The program concluded with a powerful closing charge from Ms. Yolanda Esguerra, outlining the strategic way forward for the partnership.🔄

We extend our sincere gratitude to all the participants from our various regional clusters who traveled to participate in this collective effort. Your active engagement, from mapping stakeholders to drafting comprehensive policy plans, ensured that these three days were both rewarding and highly productive. Armed with these refined strategies and a shared vision, we are prepared to elevate our environmental advocacy to the next level.💚

𝗕𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗼.

Sa panahong ito ng pagdiriwang at pagkilala, isinasama natin ang Inang Kalikasan na singhubog ng Babae na mapag-aruga, matatag at handang magtanggol.

Binibigyang-halaga natin ang lakas ng kababaihang Environmental Human Rights Defenders (EHRDs) na tumatayo bilang tagapagtanggol ng Kalikasan at komunidad. Hinaharap nila ang iba’t ibang tungkulin, mula sa pag-aaruga ng sanggol at kabataan na siyang magtutuloy ng buhay habang binubuhat din ang mga hamon at panganib na kaakibat ng pangangalaga at ng Inang Kalikasan.

Ngayong Marso, inaanyayahan ng PMPI ang lahat na masusing makinig at makiisa sa mga Kababaihan. Itaguyod natin ang respeto at dignidad ng Babae at ng Inang Kalikasan. Kilalanin natin ang kontribusyon ng Kababaihan sa lipunan. Yakapin natin ang regalo ng Inang Kalikasan para umusbong ang buhay.

Labanan natin ang mga bantang pagyurak sa karapatan ng Kababaihan at Inang Kalikasan. Huwag natin hayaang masira ang Kagubatan, na matuyo ang mga Karagatan, at unti-unting maglaho ang mga huni ng ibon. Kasabay nito, igiit natin ang proteksyon para sa mga babaeng EHRD na nahaharap sa harassment at iba pang mga panganib, habang patuloy na naglilingkod sa kanilang komunidad at tahanan at para sa Inang Kalikasan.

Nakikiisa ang PMPI sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Kababaihan. Ito ay panahon ng pagtitiyak na mabibigyan ng mas mataas na antas ng pagkilala at proteksyon ang kanilang mga karapatan.

A meaningful exchange for the Rights of Nature movement 🌱

We were honored to welcome our very own Rights of Nature Champion in the Senate, Senator Risa Hontiveros to the Rights of Nature Exhibit at the Senate of the Philippines, not only for her presence, but for the meaningful dialogue it sparked.

Beyond the visit, the conversation deepened around the urgent need to advance the Rights of Nature Bill, including key legislative efforts such as the Ecocide Bill and the RoN progress of the RoN movement, both in the global and in the Philippines. Engaging discussions with her and the members of the Senate reflect a growing commitment to reimagine our legal framework as a system that recognizes Nature not as a resource to be exploited, but as a living entity with inherent rights.

Each exchange, each question, and each shared insight brings us closer to a future where our laws uphold ecological justice and our responsibility to protect our common home.

The Rights of Nature Exhibit continues to be a productive space for dialogue, collaboration, and collective action. And through the conversations in RoN exhibits, we continue to build momentum for meaningful change.

Today, March 17, the PMPI National Communication Team officially kicked off 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭: 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗺!✍️✨

Representatives from PMPI clusters gathered to dive deep into the art of grassroots storytelling. We believe that the most impactful narratives come directly from the heart of the communities we serve.
