☝️Bible Reading natin ngayong Sunday Message. Despite three temptations the devil did to Jesus, he stayed on track as we read on vss.17-19 of the gospel reading (Matthew 4:12-19) for the week leading to Sunday (Feb.22).
☝️Paksa natin:
Hindi natinag si Jesus ng mga tukso. In summary, the three temptations are (1) turning stones to bread to fill one's hunger; (2) throwing one's self recklessly over a cliff from the mountain because one is protected by God's power; and (3) giving in to the lure of wealth to abandon faith in God.
☝️Nanatili si Jesus sa kanyang layunin. Jesus stayed on track in his mission and ministry. He used the wisdom of the way of Scripture as the way of his life.
☝️Nararanasan din natin ang mga tuksong ito. Could we stay on track in our spiritual lives given the circumstances today? And human fallibility is most striking when the disciples abandoned Jesus at the height of authorities that arrested Jesus and judged him to die on the cross. (Tumalikod silang mga apostles kahit nasaksihan pa nila ang mga ginawa ni Jesus at nakita pa ng tatlo sa kanila ang transfiguration!)
☝️We should follow Jesus. Not Peter! Not John! Not James! As disciples we follow Jesus in his living examples and in his faithfulness to the way of Scripture.
Some of the videos and photos are from Friday when we took up the distinction between the failure of Adam and its consequences in death and condemnation compared to the saving victory of Jesus and its consequences to life and its abundance in grace (vss.17-19 of Romans 5:12-19). Kung sinasabi kong dapat si Jesus ang ating sundin sa way of Scripture, nararapat nating nauunawaan ang contrast nito sa daan ni Adan (Adam).
Jesus showed the way of Scripture in examples that lead to life and that are not centered on selfish personal interests. Hindi makasarili ang layunin at gawain ni Jesus. Hindi niya ninanais ang sarili lamang niyang pakinabang. Sa halip, tinanggap niyang maganap sa kanya ang pasakit ng mga may pansariling interes kaya hinarap niya ang panganib na maialay ang sarili niyang buhay upang magkaroon ng daan ng kabaguhan ng buhay at kalikasan ng tao. Tinupad ni Jesus ang Scripture way ng buhay.
