A total of 15,000 doses of injectable Lenacapavir (LEN) for use as a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) against HIV are expected to arrive in the country through a Philippine-United States partnership, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday.

PrEP is among the most effective methods to stay protected against Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), which attacks the immune system, particularly cells that help the body fight infections.

Unlike oral PrEP, which is regularly taken one pill every day, LEN is administered once every six months for people who test negative for HIV.

When respect exists, trust grows. When inclusion exists, a sense of belonging flourishes. And when people feel valued for who they are, they can reach their full potential.

At sea and across every part of our industry, creating environments where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported not only strengthens individuals — it also strengthens our communities and teams.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the courage of authenticity, the importance of visibility, and the strength that emerges when no one has to navigate their journey alone.

Because when every person has a place where they belong, we all go further together.

BREAKING NEWS: DFA Clarifies HIV Certificate Requirement for Oman Travel | MARINO PH

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) clarified that the negative HIV medical certificate requirement applies only to Filipino tourists entering Oman under visa-free entry. It does not cover those holding work visas, including seafarers and overseas workers.

The DFA also confirmed that the issue is under review by Omani authorities, with discussions expected soon following concerns raised by the Philippine government.

🌍 Wait... an HIV test for short-term travel? Let's talk about this.

I’m seeing reports that Filipinos bound for Oman—including tourists—now need a negative HIV test to board. This is a huge change, as these tests used to be only for long-term work visas.

A few things to think about:

Reports say airlines are already enforcing this, yet the Philippine Embassy is still waiting for official word. It’s tough for travelers when the rules aren't clear.

My heart goes out to those who were denied boarding this week. Imagine the stress of being turned away at the gate because of a last-minute requirement.

💡 If you're traveling soon:
1. Call your airline right away to confirm what documents they need.

2. OFWs/Seafarers: Double-check with your agency immediately.

3. Prepare early to avoid getting stranded at the airport.

Has anyone encountered this yet? Let’s share info in the comments to help our fellow travelers! 🙏👇

Bagaman walang pormal na anunsyo, kinumpirma ng Philippine Embassy sa Muscat na nakatanggap sila ng mga report na kinakailangang magpresenta ng mga Pilipino ng negative HIV test bago makabiyahe papuntang Oman.
