🚨ADVISORY: Shift to Online Asynchronous Classes in Certain Areas of Mapúa Intramuros Campus

Please be advised that classes in specific areas of the Intramuros campus will shift to online asynchronous mode today, from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This shift is due to an emergency technical breakdown of the Low Voltage Switch Gear (LVSG) affecting the air conditioning units in certain sections of the building.

AFFECTED AREAS:
📌4th Floor: West and North West (NW)
📌3rd Floor: West and South
📌Ground Floor (GF): North West (NW) and North

All other classrooms and areas not listed above will proceed with their scheduled Face-to-Face (F2F) classes. Students in the affected areas are advised to check their respective learning platforms (LMS/MS Teams) for meeting links. On-site students may utilize the library or designated study halls if they need a space to join their online sessions.

Thank you for your patience as our facilities team works on the repairs.

𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 "𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹"

Move over, steel – there’s a new giant in town. While we often think of bamboo for traditional bahay kubos or scaffolding, the world of Civil Engineering is witnessing a massive glow-up for this humble grass. Welcome to the era of Engineered Bamboo the Philippines' very own "Green Steel."

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀?
Unlike raw bamboo, "Engineered Bamboo" is processed into standardized laminated beams and panels. This means we can finally use it in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and perform precise structural calculations just like we do with steel or concrete. It’s not just a plant; it’s a high-performance structural material.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘀 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄:
Strength: It has a strength-to-weight ratio that rivals mild structural steel. Its tensile strength is nearly 3-4 times higher than timber!
Seismic Resilience: Being naturally flexible, bamboo structures are experts at energy dissipation. In an earthquake-prone country like ours, this material doesn’t just stand; it "dances" with the tremors.

𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗯𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟯-𝟱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀?
It absorbs more carbon and produces 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees. Building with it literally helps the planet breathe.
From the testing labs in Laguna to new eco-resorts in Palawan, Filipino engineers are proving that the most advanced solutions for our future might just be grown in our own backyard.

🇵🇭 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 : 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝘄 𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗮𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻 ⚔️

Araw ng Kagitingan honors the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino and Allied soldiers who defended the nation during World War II. Their actions reflect courage, discipline, and unity in the face of adversity.

𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐭: The Philippines and the United States jointly commemorate this day. In the United States, April 9 is also observed as National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day, honoring many survivors of the Bataan Death March who were later held in prison camps. This shared remembrance highlights the enduring alliance between the two nations.

May the sacrifices of the Filipino people serve as inspiration for unity and cooperation in facing life’s challenges. Their heroism continues to guide the nation toward a stronger and more united future. ❤️‍🔥
