This session underscored the value of integrating sustainability into institutional operations by introducing practical strategies from esteemed organizations. It featured Ms. Jo Ann Eala and Mr. Nathaniel Barretto of the Bank of the Philippine Islands, who notably shared the environmental aspects of their initiatives and the regular measures conducted to maintain accountability for sustainability. It also highlighted Mr. Ariestelo Asilo of Varacco Inc., who outlined his company's sustainability goals and the ongoing smart efforts taken to achieve them.

Altogether, their discussions motivated participants to be mindful and responsible, for it is in key decisions that sustainability is nurtured. With that, the Council expresses its appreciation to all speakers and co-organizers for that profound discussion on advancing sustainability across industries.

Last June 25, 2026, the Hellenic-ASEAN Business Council was formally introduced as part of the Joint Maritime Committee, marking its first meeting with the group. The gathering was co-organized by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines Inc., the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Philippines, the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines, the Nordic Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, the Philippines Norway Business Council, and the Belgian-Filipino Business Forum.

This exclusive meeting, held at the German Club in Makati City, explored the 2026 Regulations on Sea-Based OFW Recruitment and Employment. Keynote speakers, Atty. Herbert Tria and Atty. Saben Loyola of Del Rosario & Del Rosario Law Offices, elaborated on the 2026 DMW standards on employment contracts for seafarers as well as explained the latest regulatory changes.

The Council's entry into this Committee reflects its dedication to staying on top of maritime dialogue and affairs. With that, it extends its gratitude for the warm welcome and looks forward to actively contributing to the Committee's upcoming sessions.
