Western Union partnered with Rain to launch Stablecard, a digital wallet and Visa card that lets you receive money transfers directly into a USDPT wallet, a US dollar-backed stablecoin, then spend that value anywhere Visa is accepted, online, in stores, or at ATMs.

USDPT is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, redeemable 1:1 for US dollars, and fully backed by reserves. It's already live in 37 markets, with Western Union targeting 60+ by year end.

Why this matters for remittance receivers specifically: holding value in dollars protects your money from local currency swings, then you can spend it instantly through Apple Pay, Google Pay, or the physical card.

📌 Worth understanding, ka-Miranda: this is stablecoin technology working quietly in the background so users never have to think about "crypto" at all, just dollars they can hold and spend. That's the direction a lot of real-world adoption is heading.
