Pormal nang inilunsad ng Department of Health–Metro Manila Center for Health Development (DOH-MMCHD) ang Blood Olympics: The Amazing Race for Life ngayong araw, Hulyo 22, 2026 na naglalayong paigtingin ang mobile blood donation activities sa buong National Capital Region (NCR).

Sa pamamagitan ng inisyatibong ito, hinihikayat ang mas malawak na partisipasyon ng mga lokal na pamahalaan, pribadong pasilidad pangkalusugan, iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan, blood service facilities, at iba't ibang partner organizations upang matiyak ang sapat at ligtas na suplay ng dugo para sa mga pasyenteng nangangailangan sa Metro Manila.

Bilang bahagi ng kompetisyon, hinati ang mga kalahok sa apat na sektor, ang North, East, West, at South. Sa loob ng anim na buwan, magsasagawa ang bawat sektor ng iba't ibang mobile blood donation activities upang makahikayat ng mas maraming boluntaryong blood donors.

Sa mensahe ni DOH-MMCHD Regional Director Lester M. Tan, hinimok ang lahat ng kalahok na gawing inspirasyon ang aktibidad upang mas marami pang buhay ang mailigtas.

“The friendly competition that the Blood Olympics brings is not about outperforming one another. Rather, it is about motivating one another to do better, to reach farther, and to create greater impact. When one LGU succeeds, we all benefit. When one Blood Service Facility strengthens its donor network, more lives are saved. When one organization mobilizes its members to donate blood, hope reaches families they may never even meet,” pahayag ni Director Tan.

Inaasahan na sa pamamagitan nito ay higit pang mapapalakas ang kultura ng boluntaryong pagbibigay ng dugo at masisiguro ang tuloy-tuloy na suplay ng dugo na makapagliligtas ng mas maraming buhay sa National Capital Region at maging sa iba pang rehiyon sa bansa.

The Department of Health (Philippines), in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and the Philippine Blood Coordinating Council - PBCC, invites all blood service stakeholders and advocates to the **13th National Blood Summit**—a gathering dedicated to strengthening the country's blood services, sharing best practices, and advancing initiatives that save lives through voluntary blood donation.

One of the benefactors of blood donation are dengue patients. Humans get dengue after being bitten by infected mosquitoes.

El Niño and warmer temperatures create favourable conditions for mosquitoes to thrive and spread the virus more quickly.
