𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲

Preparedness is one of the most powerful ways to protect lives—and creating resilient communities is an essential part of building a more sustainable future.

Following the recent earthquake that affected Barangay Malingin, Bogo City, Cebu,
Dow Philippines, in partnership with PBSP, turned over emergency go bags to 150 earthquake-affected families and provided emergency response tools to the barangay to strengthen its disaster preparedness and emergency response capacity.

Aligned with Dow Philippines' commitment to sustainability, this initiative demonstrates that sustainability goes beyond environmental stewardship—it also means investing in safer, stronger, and more resilient communities that are better equipped to withstand and recover from disasters.

Beyond providing essential resources, the initiative also empowered residents through a Learning Session on Earthquake Preparedness and an orientation on the Family Contingency Manual. Families learned practical actions they can take before, during, and after an earthquake and were encouraged to develop their own household contingency plans—because preparedness begins at home.

Together, Dow Philippines and PBSP continue to demonstrate that resilience is built through strong partnerships, community participation, and sustained investments in
preparedness. By empowering communities before disasters strike, we create lasting impact that supports both people and sustainable development.

Because resilient communities are not created after disasters—they are built long before they happen.

PBSP Executive Director Elvin Ivan Y. Uy presented the PCAM 2-SANDIGAN project to Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento at the OPAPRU Central Office in Pasig City.

Funded by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the project works to strengthen normalization and economic reintegration in M**F Camps Omar and Badre.

On July 22 and 23, the World Health Organization Western Pacific Region held the 'Expert Consultation on Shaping the Future of R&D Ecosystems for Public Health in the Western Pacific'. It brought together researchers, policymakers, public health leaders, funding organizations, and technical experts to discuss how the region can build stronger, more collaborative, and more impactful health R&D systems.

Representing Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), Executive Director Elvin Ivan Y. Uy shared insights on the role of development organizations, non-profit institutions, and private-sector partnerships in advancing health R&D.

During the consultation, he served as group co-lead in the Tuberculosis (TB) World Café session, facilitating discussions and the exchange of ideas among participants on translating research into public health products and policies.

As part of its continuing commitment to end tuberculosis (TB) in the country, Philippine Business for Social Progress, through its ACCESS TB Project, recently turned over an Ultra-Portable Chest X-Ray machine with Computer-Aided Detection Artificial Intelligence (CAD-AI) to the Baguio Health Services Office.

The Ultra-Portable Chest X-Ray is an innovative diagnostic technology that enables TB screening to be brought directly to communities, including geographically isolated and hard-to-reach areas. By making early detection more accessible, this technology helps identify individuals who may have tuberculosis, allowing them to receive timely diagnosis and treatment while strengthening community-based TB care and reducing delays in access to essential health services.

The turnover and signing of the agreement were led by PBSP Executive Director Elvin Ivan Y. Uy, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Baguio City Health Officer Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes, and PBSP Strategy and Area Manager Jerome Triñona.

This initiative is made possible through the support of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, reinforcing collective efforts to strengthen TB case detection, expand access to quality healthcare services, and build healthier, TB-free communities across the country.

This Nutrition Month, we celebrate two years of Kain Tayo Pilipinas (KTP) — a growing coalition of the business sector, civil society, and academia working together to improve nutrition and food security in the Philippines.

Over the past years, KTP has helped strengthen local nutrition programs, empowered communities, and supported mothers and children through collaborative, sustainable solutions.

The journey continues, and there's a place for everyone in building a healthier, hunger-free Philippines.

𝗖𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲! 🌴💚

Sixty-six (66) coconut farmers from Brgy. Mambalot and Brgy. Ipilan, Brooke's Point received a total of 17,560 free coconut seedlings during the successful Coconut Seedlings Distribution Ceremony conducted by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Palawan on July 10, 2026.

These seedlings were distributed free as part of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) under Republic Act No. 11524, a government initiative that aims to improve the lives of Filipino coconut farmers and strengthen the country's coconut industry.

These seedlings were nurtured in a coconut nursery established through the More with Less in the Philippine Coconut Industry Project (MWL).

This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication of the members of the Rizal Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative. Through their hard work, investment, and hours of care, thousands of seednuts were successfully propagated into healthy coconut seedlings ready to be planted in farmers' fields.

After planting, PCA will monitor and inspect the seedlings to ensure these maintained. Once verified, farmer-beneficiaries will receive an incentive of ₱35.00 for every surviving coconut tree—providing both motivation and additional income for their efforts.

The ceremony was also attended by Hon. Cesario Benedito Jr., Mayor of Brooke's Point, Engr. Arlo Solano, Acting Division Chief I of PCA Palawan, and representatives from the Municipal Agriculture Office, highlighting the strong partnership between government agencies and local communities.

MwL is supported by Danish International Development Agency (Danida) through the Danida Market Development Partnerships (DMDP) Program and is implemented by PBSP in collaboration with PCA, Lionheart Farms Philippines, and BaiAni Foundation Inc.
