Ang bilis ng LTO! 😊 Salute!

(Video courtesy of Kevin TV)

TVS PHILIPPINES LAUNCHES iQUBE eSCOOTER AT INTRODUCTORY PRICE OF P99,800.

TVS Philippines has officially introduced its flagship electric scooter, the TVS iQUBE, to the Philippine market, offering it at an introductory price of P99,800.

The iQUBE was unveiled during Wheeltek's 50th Anniversary Exhibition held over the weekend at the Mall of Asia.

James Chan, Senior Vice President for ASEAN of TVS Motor Company, said the launch comes at an opportune time as motorcycle users contend with rising fuel and operating costs while the global automotive industry continues its shift toward cleaner and more sustainable mobility.

82-km/h top speed:

The iQUBE is powered by a 4.6-kW hub-mounted electric motor capable of delivering a top speed of 82 km/h. It can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, providing responsive performance for urban riding.

The scooter is equipped with a lithium-ion battery that offers a claimed riding range of up to 115 kilometers, making it suitable for daily commuting and city travel.

Charging is also designed for convenience. Using its 950-watt charger, the iQUBE can be fully charged in less than three hours, while its portable charger can be plugged into a standard household electrical outlet.

Smart technology:

Beyond its electric powertrain, the iQUBE comes equipped with TVS SmartXonnect, a connected-vehicle technology platform offering a range of features, including:

- Navigation
- Telematics
- Anti-theft protection
- Geofencing
- Crash and fall alerts
- Other connected-vehicle functions

These features are designed to provide riders with greater convenience, connectivity and security.

Five-year warranty:

To further strengthen its offering in the growing Philippine electric motorcycle market, TVS Philippines is providing the iQUBE with a five-year or 60,000-kilometer warranty, whichever comes first.

With its combination of electric performance, extended range, smart connectivity and competitive pricing, the iQUBE is positioned by TVS Philippines as an alternative for riders looking to transition from conventional internal-combustion motorcycles to electric mobility.

The TVS iQUBE will be available in the Philippines in October 2026 at a starting price of P99,800.

HOW ABOUT MOTORCYCLE CARRIERS?
TRB TO SKYWAY MANAGEMENT: EXPLAIN BAN IMPOSED ON BICYCLE CARRIERS

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has directed SMC Infrastructure to explain the reported restrictions imposed on vehicles equipped with bicycle carriers and bike racks using the Skyway.

In a letter dated September 24, 2026, Atty. Jose Arturo M. Tugade, TRB Executive Director II, said the agency had received numerous complaints seeking clarification on the policy reportedly preventing vehicles fitted with bicycle carriers from entering or using the Skyway.

“Based on TRB records, no specific policy or directive has been issued by this Office prohibiting or restring the use of bike racks for the transporting of bicycles,” Tugade said in the letter.

The TRB official, however, did not mention anything about “motorcycle carriers” which was reportedly covered by the restriction of the Skyway management.

The TRB is seeking a written explanation from SMC Infrastructure on the basis of the restriction and how Skyway management arrived at the policy, particularly since the regulatory agency said it had not issued any directive prohibiting or restricting the use of bicycle racks.

The directive comes amid growing concerns among motorists and cycling enthusiasts over the reported enforcement of restrictions against vehicles carrying bicycles on the elevated expressway.

The TRB gave SMC Infrastructure five days from receipt of the letter to submit its explanation.

The issue also comes after HitchPro Philippines publicly questioned the rationale behind restrictions on vehicles carrying not only bicycles but also motorcycles, and called for clear, reasonable safety guidelines instead of an outright ban.

The TRB’s directive raises a bigger question: If no specific prohibition was issued by the regulatory board, on what authority and safety assessment did Skyway management impose the controversial policy? (Photo courtesy of HitchPro Philippines)

SKYWAY LIFTS BAN ON MOTORCYCLE CARRIERS, BICYCLE RACKS

Skyway management has lifted its temporary ban on vehicles equipped with motorcycle carriers and bicycle racks, subject to existing safety rules and guidelines governing the use of the elevated expressway.

The policy reversal came after posted an open letter on social media questioning the rationale behind prohibiting vehicles carrying two-wheelers. The group also proposed specific safety guidelines aimed at preventing accidents involving improperly secured or oversized cargo.

HitchPro emphasized that the lifting of the ban does not mean all types of motorcycle carriers and bicycle racks are automatically permitted. Motorists are still required to comply with applicable safety and vehicle regulations as provided by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

“Please take note: Open tailgates remain NOT ALLOWED on Skyway,” HitchPro Philippines said.

Among the safety protocols highlighted by the group are:

- Keep the rear projection or overhang within the applicable one-meter limit.

- Ensure that the vehicle's license plate remains clearly visible or is properly relocated when necessary.

- Make sure taillights and reflectors are not obstructed. If they are, install appropriate auxiliary lights or reflectors.

- Properly secure motorcycles, bicycles and other loads using quality, reputable ratchet tie-downs and appropriate restraints.

- Ensure that the carrier or rack is properly installed, structurally sound and suitable for the vehicle and the load being transported.

- Check that the carrier and its load comply with all applicable road-safety and vehicle regulations.

HitchPro also reminded motorists that if a carrier or its cargo exceeds the allowable rear projection, additional permits or requirements may apply.

“Always verify with the LTO and the relevant authorities,” the group said.

The development effectively allows motorists to once again use motorcycle carriers and bicycle racks on the Skyway, provided they comply with the prescribed safety requirements and other applicable regulations. (Photo courtesy of Tey Hayag Usis)
