The old mindset: _"28 years na akong oiler, kaya ko baklasin main engine kahit walang manual."_
Your mindset (the correct one): *"Before I overhaul, I always check the manual."*
Hindi yan kahinaan, that's professionalism. Even Chief Engineers with 20 years still open the manual because torque, clearance, at tolerance - hindi yan kaya ng memory lang. One wrong torque, one wrong measurement, makina ang masisira.
1. *"Experience tells you WHAT to do. The manual tells you HOW to do it correctly. I trust both, but I never skip the manual."*
2. "28 years of experience is respect. But 5 minutes of reading the manual can save a $1 Million engine. I choose to read."
3. "Hindi ka mahina dahil nagbabasa ka ng manual. Mas mahina yung nagmamarunong na ayaw magbasa."
4. "Real engineers read manuals. Maangas lang hindi."
5. "Basa ka ng basa ng manual? Good. That means you will go home safe and your engine will run safe."
You are 100% correct kabaro. In management rank, ISM and company procedures will ask you: "Did you follow the manual?" They will never ask: "Ilang years ka nang oiler?"
