Under the RA8495 or otherwise known as the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟴, states that all registered Professional Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Certified Plant Mechanics shall automatically become members of the Accredited Integrated Professional Organization — PSME — upon registration.

PSME issues the 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗖𝗢𝗚𝗦) as part of its mandate as a 𝗣𝗥𝗖-𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗔𝗜𝗣𝗢) under RA 8495.

The COGS certifies that a member is active, compliant, and adheres to the Code of Ethics and professional standards of mechanical engineering. While it is no longer required for PRC ID renewal, the COGS remains a symbol of 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆—ensuring that only qualified and responsible engineers represent and advance the profession. ⚙️✨
