The College of International Relations Student Government, in collaboration with the Global Relations and Partnerships Office, successfully held the lecture-seminar “𝘌𝘜–𝘈𝘚𝘌𝘈𝘕 𝘙𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴: 𝘗𝘏 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘚𝘌𝘈𝘕 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱” on December 10, 2025.

We were honored by the presence and insights of H.E. Amb. Sujiro Seam, whose expertise underscored the vital role of regional cooperation in building lasting peace. He also left a meaningful reminder for aspiring diplomats: “𝘿𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙨.”

We likewise extend our gratitude for the warm welcome remarks of Atty. Roberto P. Laurel, joined by Mr. Radomir Jansky and Ms. Thelma Gecolea, whose support enriched the event.

This gathering stands as a testament to the dedication and passion of our future diplomats and traders as steadfast stewards of Philippine diplomacy and global engagement.

The Student Government also acknowledges the invaluable support of The LPU Project for Asian and International Relations, whose contributions were instrumental to the event’s success.

Our honorable speaker for the lecture-discussion “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿: 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮'𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗨-𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼-𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆” is none other than 𝙃𝙞𝙨 𝙀𝙭𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙎𝙪𝙟𝙞𝙧𝙤 𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙢, the current Ambassador of the European Union to ASEAN, based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ambassador Seam is a highly accomplished French Career Diplomat whose journey in public service is truly global. Born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, his background has clearly informed a career dedicated to forging connections between continents.

Today, he leads the EU’s mission to strengthen the crucial strategic partnership with the 11 nations of ASEAN, navigating complex geopolitical and economic landscapes.

His story reminds us that standing up for what’s right doesn’t only happen in battlefields. It also happens in the choices we make, the principles we hold on to, and the way we contribute to our country in our own ways.
