From the very core of passion and love to serve others, MAYA was born.
The Mangaldan Youth Assembly or simply MAYA (inspired by the name of variety of small, commonly observed passerine birds in the Philippines β maya) is a municipal-based, non-profit, volunteer, youth-serving youth organization. This was actually conceptualized in 2016 but was officially founded on May 30, 2018 by Frankie Cortez, from Mangaldan, Pangasinan. Members are either born, living, or residing in the Municipality of Mangaldan (and volunteers from different parts of Pangasinan only).
PROACTIVE: The organization is proactive in terms of providing youth the fora or consortia to deal and discuss issues concerning them (e.g. environment, governance, employment, education). Ultimately, this is geared towards unification of actions to manifest the concerns, interests, and contributions of the organization.
EMPOWERED: The organization is inspired to move, strengthen, and empower its members and the youth, to be engaged in different intellectual, social, political, economic and cultural dialogue, movements, trainings or initiatives. This is for the attainment of its sacred goals and objectives. As stated in our official mantra, βYouth Empowerment is Our Commitmentβ.
PROGRESSIVE: The organization promotes dynamism, innovations, and transformative development. Youth should always move forward for the betterment of the society.
MAYA adheres to the following objectives listed below:
To contribute positive change in the country, for the people and for the environment;
To uphold the rights of every citizen and the concerns and interests of the youth;
To serve its members, target communities and the Municipality of Mangaldan with utmost efforts through its innovative initiatives and advocacy movements;
To reinforce the interests of the youth not only in school, not only in the municipality but as well as in larger political units: be it regional or national;
To promote teamwork, discipline and leadership among its members and to the youth; and
To lobby concerns or create a forum where the political leaders of Mangaldan and members of MAYA can discuss matters important to the well-being of both institutions and their respective constituents.
The Mangaldan Youth Assembly (MAYA) proactively engages its socio-economic, political, and cultural interests for the betterment of the youth sector and for all Filipino citizens in general and highlights its aspirations as movers and change-makers of communities.
The Mangaldan Youth Assembly (MAYA) as one of the best and outstanding performing youth organizations in the country advocating the interests and welfare of the youth in and out of the boundaries of Mangaldan.
