17 plants are on forced outage on September, 3 plants since August, 2 plants since June, 6 plants since May, 3 plants since 2025, 2 plants since 2024, 2 plants since 2023, and 1 plant since 2021, while 17 plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 949.9MW unavailable to the grid.

Factor/s that contributed to the RED and YELLOW Alert declarations:

1. Unavailability of Visayas' large coal plants TVI 1, PEDC 3 and KSPC 2

2. Temporary unavailability of power import from Luzon due to the requested emergency shutdown of Tabango-Kananga 230kV Line 2 by customer to undertake emergency repairs of their defective equipment

A red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement.

A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.

Forecast Weather Conditions:

Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Sorsogon, Masbate, Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, and Camiguin due to Trough of TD (Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains).

Palawan, Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro will have Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon (Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms).

SYNOPSIS: Trough of Low Pressure Area (LPA) affecting the eastern section of Visayas.

Forecast Weather Conditions:

Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Bohol, and Davao Oriental will cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to Trough of LPA (Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains).

Palawan, Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro will have Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon (Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms).

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Localized thunderstorms (Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms).

Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon will experience Moderate to Strong winds from the Northeast to Northwest with moderate to rough seas (1.2 to 2.8 meters).

OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE PHILIPPINE RED CROSS REGARDING THE SUPPOSED UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS AND ALLEGED BREACH OF DATA

Unverified and anonymous social media posts surfaced online regarding the supposed unauthorized access and alleged breach of certain private and confidential data servers of the Philippine Red Cross organization (“PRC”). While this matter is presently the subject of an ongoing internal and external investigation, the PRC has undertaken precautionary measures to protect and safeguard the sanctity of its private data and integrity of its systems. Nevertheless, PRC wishes to remind the general public that the unauthorized access, theft, and/or illegal trade of private and confidential data belonging to another constitutes, among others, a serious and criminal violation of Philippine laws, including without limitation the Data Privacy Act of 2012. Once it is determined that private or confidential data may have been compromised by this alleged intrusion, the PRC shall directly contact and promptly alert the affected individuals and/or entities. If the alleged data breach did indeed occur, the PRC shall not hesitate to have the full force of the law bear upon all persons involved and responsible for the same.
