We are deeply honored and delighted that PUNLA (Cebu) Foundation, Inc. had successfully supported and nurtured six (6) Grade 10 PUNLA Scholars from the University of the Philippines High School Cebu. They are now moving up from Grade 10 (Junior High School) to Grade 11 (Senior High School).

Also, we are very proud that eighteen (18) of our UP High School Cebu Grade 7, 8, 9, and 11 PUNLA Scholars received honors and recognitions.

𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝟏𝟐𝟖𝐓𝐇 𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐖 𝐍𝐆 𝐊𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐀𝐍

Ngayong araw, ating ginugunita ang ika-128 Araw ng Kalayaan—isang makasaysayang pagdiriwang ng muling pagsilang ng ating bansa mula sa mahigit tatlong siglong pagkakasakop.

Sa araw na ito, ating pinararangalan ang tapang, talino, at sakripisyo ng mga bayani na nag-alay ng kanilang buhay upang makamtan ang kalayaan ng sambayanang Pilipino.

Nawa’y magsilbing paalala ang Araw ng Kalayaan na ang tunay na diwa ng kalayaan ay hindi lamang sa kasaysayan, kundi sa ating araw-araw na pamumuhay, sa pagpili ng tama, sa paglilingkod nang tapat, at sa patuloy na pagbuo ng isang bansang malaya, makatarungan, at payapa.

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang Kalayaan!

𝐏𝐔𝐍𝐋𝐀 𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐀𝐘 𝐖𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐏 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

The secondary (UP, USJ-R, and NPS) and tertiary (UP College) PUNLA Scholars actively participated in the Essay Writing Workshop and Competition with the theme “Confronting the Age of Hyper Consumption and Digital Access Towards a More Meaningful Life” held last May 30, 2026 at the Social Hall, Norkis Compound.

The workshop was facilitated by Asst. Prof. Genesis B. Bedio, with co-facilitation from Asst. Prof. Val B. Salares and Sir King H. Decrepito. The rationale of the workshop emphasized the challenges of youth development in the post-digital age, where technology and consumerism often overshadow learned human values. The theme encouraged scholars to reflect on anchoring forces that bring meaning to life, while tapping into their moral sensitivities to discern present challenges and restore genuine human connections.

The morning featured an insightful input session and discussion led by Prof. Genesis. In the afternoon, scholars engaged in a dynamic writing workshop where they were divided into three breakout rooms. Within these groups, they practiced essay writing using a structured map for writing, allowing them to organize ideas clearly and strengthen their critical thinking and composition skills.

This enriching activity not only honed the scholars’ writing abilities but also empowered them to become proactive agents in confronting the realities of hyper consumption and digital access, fostering resilience and meaningful social bonds within the PUNLA community. ✨🌱
