ORNAP Cebu Chapter ORNAP, Inc. Cebu Chapter : A Day of Love, Purpose, and Inspiration
August 23, 2025 | Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts Children’s Home, Guadalupe, Cebu City
In every nurse’s heart is a call far deeper than the duties of the operating room—it’s a call to serve, to give, and to uplift. This calling was beautifully fulfilled on August 23, 2025, as the PeriOperative Registered Nurses Association of the Philippines, Inc. (ORNAP) – Cebu Chapter brought its compassion beyond the hospitals and into the hearts of children through our Community Outreach Program: “Adopt an Orphanage for a Day.”
This year, with the theme "Edukasyon ay Misyon, Kabataan ay Inspirasyon," our mission centered on the power of education and the endless potential of the Filipino youth. With the tireless efforts of our ORNAP Cebu Treasurer, Ms. Jessie Mae Cuyos, every item for the event—educational supplies, loot bags, games, meals, and more—was carefully prepared and accounted for. Through a meaningful partnership with Jollibee, we ensured everyone—from the children to the Sisters and caregivers—would be treated to a joyful feast.
Upon our arrival at the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts Children’s Home, we were met not only with open gates, but with open arms and smiling faces. The children helped unload our supplies—loot bags, a sack of rice, educational tools, and games—with a sense of excitement that instantly warmed our hearts. The space was wide, peaceful, and filled with life—a perfect place for a day meant to celebrate connection.
As we set up tables, chairs, and the stage, we were humbled to learn the story of the orphanage—how it was built, nurtured, and lovingly sustained by the devotion of the Sisters. It reminded us that behind every safe home is a story of sacrifice, resilience, and grace.
The day began with a prayer turned song by our very own ORNAP Assistant Secretary, Ms. Mary Glinor Mascariñas, followed by an inspiring welcome from our Chapter President, Mr. Grand Cris Dadula, who reminded us of the value of nurturing young minds through love and education.
Then came the moment that truly touched us: the children, with pure joy and dedication, performed a surprise number they had prepared just for us. It was not just a performance—it was a gift. A display of talent, hope, and gratitude that filled the entire space with emotion.
Laughter and joy continued as our Game Masters, Mr. Felix Atillo and Ms. Jolive Cashmere Campomanes, led fun and interactive games, with prizes and cheers echoing across the grounds. Throughout the event, our beloved ORNAP past presidents and advisors shared personal stories and words of encouragement, planting seeds of hope in every young heart listening.
A special dance followed, choreographed by the children themselves. This time, we joined them—not just as nurses, but as friends, mentors, and family. The laughter was genuine, the steps imperfect, but the memory will last forever.
Meals were served with love and shared like a family. There were no strangers—only stories, smiles, and a spirit of togetherness. We handed out educational kits, colorful tokens, and a sack of rice received with gratitude by Sister Evelyn. Every gift given was not just material—it was a symbol of our belief in the children’s dreams.
Before we left, we helped restore the space to its original beauty and gathered for a heartfelt closing message from our Vice President, Ms. Rasil Polestico, who reminded us that service doesn’t end with this day—it continues in every act of kindness we choose to give.
As we said our goodbyes, we were met with countless hugs, high fives, and whispers of "thank you." But in truth, we were the ones most thankful—for the opportunity to serve, to be inspired, and to remember why we chose this profession in the first place.
ORNAP Cebu Chapter is not just a community of skilled nurses. We are a family of servant hearts, reaching out to every corner of society where care, hope, and inspiration are needed most.
Mabuhay ang ORNAP! Mabuhay ang ORNAP Cebu Chapter!
May our mission of love continue to touch lives, one heart at a time.
