On June 2025, we celebrate Pride Month with the theme: The Fabric of Freedom, a celebration of the threads that unite us all. We, the MAVENCO AFLATOUN, walk with you all in this great parade of love and unity. We remember the spearheads of the Pride Month parade and those who continue to support the LGBTQ+ community

We must all remember that this parade is not only a celebration of what we have achieved so far, but also to bring awareness for the injustice that the community continue to fight. We celebrate the culture and support of our LGBTQ+ peers as we fight hand-to-hand towards an equal society.

The MAVENCO AFLATOUN raises the torch to a future where everyone is equal to the eyes of society. Malayo pa pero malayo na!

𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟑 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

Our youth leaders took an enriching tour of Manila's cultural sites on day three, starting with an exploration of Intramuros, the walled city that serves as a reminder of the Philippines' Spanish colonial period. Inside this restored district, the ancient stone walls of Fort Santiago gave a powerful glimpse into the nation's complicated past, inspiring the imagination of all members—those who had no prior knowledge of Philippine history included.

The group was amazed at the Manila Cathedral, where the grandeur of the architecture and exquisite artistic detail spoke volumes of both religious devotion and cultural artisanship. Rizal Park provided a refreshing respite from urban vigor, as much a testament to national hero José Rizal as a peaceful green oasis amidst metropolitan landscape.

Most unforgettable experience of the day was at the Biodiversity exhibit of the National Museum, when the students met Lolong—formerly authenticated by Guinness World Records as the largest captive saltwater crocodile in the world. This awe-inspiring 6.17-meter behemoth stunned our young leaders into silence, perfectly reflecting the incredible natural diversity of the Philippine archipelago and inspiring serious reflection on conservation issues and duties.

Through these interactive encounters, our young participants had nuanced understandings of the historical underpinnings, cultural representations, and environmental riches that altogether define present-day Filipino identity. This fresh perspective will certainly add depth to their vision as they create future community leadership projects.

The energetic atmosphere of the 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗖𝗢 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 overflowed Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City last month April 30-May 2, 2025, as young cooperative leaders from all over the country convened to innovate, compete, and collaborate.

Representing the attendees was the MAVENCO team from the Mandaue City, Cebu. The focused group, led by, Kherulph O. Orais, Kisha May Daclan, Joshua Espinosa, and Christian Kayl Igot, added to the proceedings in their mentor, Sir Don Dee Glen Yuro's, presence. Representing MAVENCO in the Entrepreneurship Pitching Contest, the team introduced their well-considered proposal: "𝘔𝘢𝘷𝘌𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯: 𝘈 𝘔𝘈𝘝𝘌𝘕𝘊𝘖-𝘋𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯, 𝘈𝘧𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘯-𝘎𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘞𝘦𝘣 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘓𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘺." Their project impressed judges and peers alike, demonstrating the value of young people's financial education initiatives in the cooperative world.

𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟭: The first day cemented a strong emphasis on sustainability and intergenerational work, paving the way for catalyzing dialogue throughout the congress.

𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩
The keynote speakers presented twofold themes of responsibility towards the environment and cooperative leadership. 𝐀𝐒𝐞𝐜. 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐨 𝐂𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐚
supported the critical role of the youth in building resilience towards the climate, while 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐱 𝐄. 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐫 called for joint climate action through cooperatives. 𝐌𝐬. 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞 supported these points by portraying cooperatives as instruments of social good that enhance lives generationally and not just for profit.

𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟮: The second day saw the dynamic Entrepreneurship Pitching Contest, in which MAVENCO's team gave their presentation of the 𝘔𝘢𝘷𝘌𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯 Web-App—a project to bridge gaps in financial literacy by imparting entrepreneurship and money management skills to children. Their proposal showed how early financial education has a positive impact on families and the community.

The 𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗖𝗢 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 was an excellent opportunity for young cooperative leaders such as the MAVENCO group to present creative and innovative solutions to actual community requirements. Through their "𝘔𝘢𝘷𝘌𝘊𝘰𝘶𝘯" web application proposal, the Mandaue City delegation showed how technology can be used to improve young people's financial literacy. As the congress ended, attendees left with new friendships and inspiration, reaffirming that young people are not only the future of the cooperative movement but active forces determining its current direction.
The MAVENCO team's experience is a testament to how youth participation fortifies the cooperative sector throughout the Philippines.
