: Ninoy Aquino Day became a national holiday to honor the life and sacrifice of former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. His assassination on August 21, 1983 became a significant event that inspired Filipinos to fight for democracy and helped pave the way for the People Power Revolution.

To commemorate his contribution to the country, Republic Act No. 9256 declared August 21 of every year as a special non-working holiday known as Ninoy Aquino Day.

As August 21, 2026 is declared a special non-working holiday, there will be 𝙣𝙤 𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙣𝙤 𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 on this day.
