ANNOUNCEMENT: UC shifts Basic Education classes online; college classes, work continue

In light of the recent eruption of Mount Kanlaon, classes remain suspended today for everyone's safety. The University of Cebu announced that Basic Education classes will shift to online modalities (synchronous and/or asynchronous) on July 10, 2026. Meanwhile, college classes will continue as scheduled, and all university offices will remain open.

To stay protected, please remember the following:
-Wear a well-fitting face mask whenever you need to go outside.
-Keep doors and windows closed as much as possible to prevent ash from entering your home.
-Stay updated through official advisories from local authorities and disaster response agencies.
-Watch for health symptoms, seek medical attention if you experience difficulty in breathing.

On February 9, 2025—we successfully wrapped up our Free Breakfast Program, sharing simple meals that carried a bigger message—care, generosity, and community spirit. It was heartwarming to see smiles, conversations, and genuine gratitude as we served breakfast to those who needed it. Moments like these remind us that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in someone’s day. ☘️

This program would not have been possible without the dedication of our officers, coordinator’s, and everyone who contributed their time and effort. Your willingness to give reflects what CARES truly stands for—helping, uplifting, and supporting one another as a community. 🤲💕

We hope to continue spreading positivity and compassion through more outreach activities in the future. Together, let’s keep caring, sharing, and making a difference—one meal, one smile, and one act of kindness at a time. 💛

On December 16, 2025, Basic Education CARES held a Christmas gift-giving activity for the school’s security guards, janitors, and construction workers, made possible through the generosity of Basic Education students.

This Christmas gift-giving activity was a simple way of saying thank you to our school security guards, janitors, and construction workers. Their dedication keeps our campus safe, clean, and moving forward each day, often behind the scenes and without recognition.⭐️

Through these small tokens, we shared our gratitude and holiday cheer with people who truly deserve it. May this season remind them how valued their hard work is and how deeply they are appreciated, not just during Christmas, but all year round.🎄

On December 13, all CARES organizations from different departments gathered at the covered court for a Christmas Gift-Giving activity for children from four partnered barangays—Barangay Looc, Opao, Paknaan, and Umapad. This meaningful event was made possible through the support of CARES staff and the collective efforts of the CARES organizations.

Small hands, big smiles, and hearts full of joy filled the covered court during our Christmas gift-giving activity for the kids. Each gift carried more than just surprises. It carried care, thought, and the spirit of sharing that makes this season meaningful. Laughter, excitement, and pure happiness made every moment feel warm and unforgettable.⭐️

Moments like these remind us what Christmas is truly about. Choosing kindness, spreading joy, and making children feel valued and loved. Seeing their smiles, hearing their laughter, and sharing these simple moments together became the greatest gift we could all receive this season.🎄
