IN MEMORIAM: MR. ENRIQUE C. GALAN JR. (Class of 1961)

​It is with deep sadness that we announce.the passing of our fellow Bosconian, Mr. Enrique C. Galan Jr. (Class of 1961), who returned to the Lord on August 16, 2026, at the age of 83 in Iloilo City.

​A true leader and dedicated Bosconian during his student years, Mr. Galan served as an AFPMT Cadet Major and Squadron Commander of the 100th Squadron. His formative years at Don Bosco Mandaluyong shaped a lifetime of integrity, service, and leadership that he carried with pride throughout his journey.

​We extend our heartfelt condolences, prayers, and solidarity to his family, relatives, and loved ones during this time of grief.

Eulogy from a Bosconian friend:

Mon Masalonga's life was a success story for a bosconian. He was able to establish a fabrication and silver and gold plating factory in San Pedro, employing several workers and lots of charities., acquired several properties too. That is not what I admire in Mon. He was blinded with both eyes in a car accident in the early 80's but persevered, never gave up, though he had temptation of committing su***de, was able to set all this up blinded from that day on. He married his own assistant Tere, also deceased a few years and had 2 kids Tessa and Monette, both nurses and grand kid from Tessa who live in the states. What makes me laugh and wonder remembering when he would ask me how his fiance looked like saying he was planning to marry his assistant. Being blinded he never had physically seen his wife, kids and grandkid. What was great with him he was faithful to his Sunday Masses until his death. There were even times I went to Sunday mass with him and wife and children. I visited him last February this year and fabricated a paten for our parish and gold plated an old one. Joey Palma was with me when visited him in his factory where Joey was showed at the factory by his staff. I have a feeling Mon's business must have a revenue of over 50M a year cuz of his over 5M of taxes he pays annually.

We became friends from the time we worked together at our DB machine shop in 1974 when we were in college. He was also a drinking buddy. When in Las Pin̈as for a visit he would make me stay in his one of his condominium units in BF paranaque and would allow sometimes driven around by his driver with one of his cars. He is the man people and relations approach for help with money and other matters. I approached him in several occasions for charities for nuns and for other friends needing financial help. I attempted to ask him if I can make a successful life story of his but refused knowing it will be an inspiration for all worldwide.

I miss him dearly. Let us include him in our prayers, a true bosconian in body and spirit. May Mon find eternal rest. Amen.

With hearts weighed down by grief, we share the passing of our dearly beloved “Coach Jayr.”

His loss has left a deep emptiness in our lives—one that words can never fully express. He was more than a coach, he was a mentor, a guiding light, and a source of strength and inspiration to so many. 🤍
