Girl Scouts of the Philippines-Hulo Integrated School
Troop Leader's Day Activities
("My Family and I" Badge for Challenge of Family Life)
“Today, we come together to celebrate one of the most important treasures in our lives—our families. As part of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines Week, our Family Day is a special time to strengthen our bonds, create happy memories, and work hand in hand with the people who love and support us the most. Through fun and meaningful activities, our Girl Scouts will not only enjoy quality time with their families but also take steps toward earning the ‘My Family and I’ badge, which highlights the values of love, teamwork, and gratitude within the family circle."
Requirement:
1. During all activities, Girl Scouts must wear at their GSP scarf as part of proper Girl Scout identity.
2. Documentation is Required: Submit pictures and short written reflections as proof of completion.
Family Day Activities:
1. Family Promise Circle
Gather families in a circle.
Each family makes a short Family Promise—something they commit to doing together (ex. eat dinner together more often, pray before bed, recycle at home).
The Girl Scout writes the promise on a card and decorates it with her family.
Objective: Strengthen family values and shared responsibility.
2. Family Fun Relay
Create simple relay stations (ex. sack race, passing a ball with a spoon, family three-legged walk).
Each family works as a team to complete the challenges.
Objective: Promote teamwork, cooperation, and laughter within families.
3. Memory Lane Scrapbook
Provide art materials.
Families create one scrapbook page showing favorite family memories (photos, drawings, or written stories).
Each Girl Scout presents her scrapbook page and explains why that moment is special.
Objective: Appreciate family bonds and shared experiences.
4. Cooking Together Challenge
Families prepare a simple dish or snack together (could be no-cook recipes for convenience).
Dishes are shared in a “Family Feast” potluck-style gathering.
Objective: Encourage collaboration, healthy food preparation, and sharing traditions.
5. Family Talent Showcase
Each family presents a short performance: a song, skit, poem, or dance.
Must include at least one Girl Scout and one family member.
Objective: Build confidence, creativity, and unity through shared talent.
6. Letters of Love
Each Girl Scout writes a letter to her parents/siblings expressing appreciation.
Parents also write short affirmations for their daughter.
Letters are exchanged in a simple “family ceremony” where Scouts say thank you.
Objective: Strengthen emotional bonds and practice gratitude.
7. “Family Tree Quest”
Scouts and their families make a simple illustrated family tree on Manila paper.
Each family presents it and shares one value or tradition passed down from their ancestors.
Objective: Promote awareness of family heritage and respect for roots.
