In 1990, Alay Pag-asa was organized by a group of committed evangelical Christians and successfully operated a shelter program for street children and their families for the first 16 years of operation. With deep compassion to street children, the program resulted to changed lives of street hustlers (thieves) to pastors, beggars to givers, and hopeless to promising members of the society. In 2006

, Alay Pag-asa embarked on community development and successfully organized communities and linked them to available resources and interventions for social progress, thus making its contribution to deter the influx of street children. Now, Alay Pag-asa launched a transformational program where the focus is on the personhood of individuals and families to make them catalysts of social transformation for the next generation
