Currently, there are 30 GK Communities working in close collaboration with the GK SipaG Youth Leadership Program. This program is a special project under the Child and Youth Development Program of GK, known as SIPAG, which is implemented, monitored, and evaluated. The program promotes the value of "Sipag," which means diligence in Filipino, to its youth participants, their parents, and the surroun

ding communities. Additionally, "Sipa," the Filipino word for "to kick," represents the grassroots football aspect of the program.

Congratulations!

Alyssa Daiane Aguilar , one of our femme fatale (no pun intended) coaches, brought honors for herself and her family by simply graduating with Academic Distiction.

She is the de facto community coach and youth organizer of GK Munting Pamayanan (GK MP) in Brgy. Escopa, QC, while at the same time a bona fide player of the GK SipaG girls team in many of its tournament engagements. Except when she was one of the members of the Philippine contingent in the 2022 Street Child World Cup in Qatar, she has never played in any other squad or club except with GK SipaG.

We are grateful for her, and thanks to her parents, too. May she continue to be an inspiration and guiding example to her fellow youth in GK MP and to other women and kids whose lives she may continue to influence. More power, fly high, far and wide, Daiane!

Trivia Tuesday

These names and faces we've known and seen them play from way back - they are still at it, carving their own prints in the local world of futsal. Coming and rising from Gawad Kalinga Football community programs, they are making their presence felt by the momentary yet significant recognition they get. πŸ₯‚ Toast and cheers for their little but well-deserved triumphs that affirm their improving talents. Congratulations, Axel Dellosa , Jimwell Rivas and Nilo Pesimo

Mizumo Cup Football Tournament

Through our SipaG Bubuyog teams, GK SipaG got fielded in this year's Mizumo Cup 2026 at the Philsports Arena. It was a very good exposure for our wards who'd been training all April, and our way of checking the effectivity of our program and the preparedness of kids and coaches alike. We expected our trainees in the U7, U9, U13 and U15 (the age brackets which we have entries for) to just enjoy and have fun with the beautiful game, and finishing the games winning any of the top places is already a bonus.

We owe it to the sacrifices of all our Bubuyog TThS trainors, and our available coaches for this tournament Rainier, Jeffrey, Jovet and Ceejhay that our participation today came out all right for everyone. We win some, we lose some, so to speak. Back to SM Shaw Cherry Turf Philippines and on to the games schedule for this May.

Thank you very much for affording us our participation, Jamell Paulo Buan and Boss Raf Gastador.

GK SipaG once again answered the call for the Bayani Challenge, this time bringing the game to Santa Magdalena, Sorsogon, a place known for its beautiful beaches, warm people, and rich local culture.

With 80 bright and eager kids, the field came alive under the guidance of Coach Chester, Coach Bert, and Ate Zarah.

For many of these children, it was their very first time touching a futsal ball. Some had never even heard of football before. But in just a few moments, curiosity turned into courage, and courage into pure joy.

One parent shared her heartfelt gratitude, saying how happy she was to see her children playing, smiling, and learning even under the blazing sun. And that’s what this is all about.

Because for us as coaches, it’s more than just a game. It’s about reaching communities, opening doors, and giving every child the chance to play, grow, and dream. In places where opportunities are limited, moments like these become powerful beginnings.

This is just the first step. A spark has been lit, and with the passion of the community and the school, the journey of sport and hope will continue.

"Sama-sama tayo makinig at matuto kung paano tayo makakapag handa ng mga masusutiyansyang pagkain para sa ating mga pamilya."

During one of the SipaG Bubuyog trainings, PAFT Alpha visited us and shared with our kids their advocacy "LUX: PAFT GIVES BACK", adopting the theme above.

Fifty-seven of our wards, seven of our coaches and 22 parents were able to experience and see for themselves what PAFT Alpha has in store for this day's attendees. And we are grateful for an afternoon of being with them. More power to PAFT Alpha!

Ah, summer!

And it's hot, hot, hot! But we're not, not, not gonna give up our slot in our training time.

Let others go swimming, or trek-hiking, or mountain-climbing, or what-have-you... our vacation is training, training and more training.
