The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) participated in the Workshop to Introduce the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-Australia Counter Trafficking (ASEAN-ACT) Equity and Rights Strategy and Key Implementation Tools and National Consultation Workshops Informing the Joint ASEAN-Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Policy Brief on Addressing Intersectional Vulnerabilities in Trafficking in Persons held on 4 - 6 May 2026 at Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
The activity was organized by the ASEAN-ACT in partnership with the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children and the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights.
The workshop brought together representatives from various government agencies, non-government organizations, civil society organizations, international partners, and survivor leaders to socialize the revised ASEAN-ACT Equity and Right Strategy, enhance ASEAN-ACT partnersโ understanding of key Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion concepts, and gather practical inputs to inform the zero draft of the Joint ASEANโOSCE Policy Brief.
Executive Director Hannah Lizette S. Manalili and Assistant State Prosecutor Ma.Yvette Tamayo-Coronel , member of the IACAT Task Force on Women and Children Against Trafficking in Persons and OSAEC sat as members of the panel and shared how current national CTIP frameworks and institutions can be improved to address the intersectionality of the vulnerabilities in Trafficking in Persons (TIP) cases.
Executive Director Manalili closed the panel discussion by commending the close collaboration among government institutions and civil society organizations emphasizing that the fight against trafficking and the protection of vulnerable sectors is a shared duty across sectors. to ensure a The IACAT continues to call for a unified approach and for the valuable inclusion and representation of vulnerable sectors in the fight against TIP.
