An incident occurred in San Rafael, Bulacan, where a mother and her two children were found dead inside a vehicle.

Key Details of the Incident:
The Victims: A 31-year-old bookkeeper for a U.S.-based company and her two children, aged 9 and 4. She's a summa cm laude graduate of accounting.

Discovery: Their bodies were discovered on Thursday afternoon, August 20, 2026, seated upright in the back seat of their family vehicle parked on an inner road in Barangay Talacsan, San Rafael.

Cause of Death: Investigators reported that the victims bore gunshot wounds.
Investigation & Leads: According to the Central Luzon police, the victims were last seen leaving Angat town with a male friend as they headed home to the City of Baliwag. Police have identified a person of interest and are currently awaiting forensic examination results as the investigation continues.

Magnitude: 6.7 (USGS) / up to 7.2 reported locally by the Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP).

Time & Location: It occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. local time, centered about 38 kilometers northwest of Upahuacho in the Parinacochas province (Ayacucho region), at an intermediate depth of roughly 66 to 108 kilometers.

Impact & Damage:
At least two people were injured while evacuating their homes in Coracora.

Authorities have reported structural damage to 22 homes, six health centers, and a school across districts in Ayacucho and Cusco (including towns like Puquio, Pullo, and Upahuacho).
Shaking Area: The tremor was widely felt across southern and central regions—including Ica, Arequipa, Huancavelica, Apurimac, and Cusco—as well as as far away as the capital city of Lima.

Tsunami Threat: The Peruvian Navy and international agencies confirmed there was no tsunami threat.
Because Peru sits squarely on the seismically active Pacific "Ring of Fire," local civil defense authorities continue to urge residents to remain vigilant and review preparedness protocols.
