Across the Philippines, women environmental human rights defenders are advancing climate action, protecting communities, and championing environmental justice.
Together with the Manila Observatory and women-led CSOs, UNDP is supporting a shared effort to strengthen their capacities, safety, and leadership.
More than 20 leaders from six organizations came together to exchange knowledge, build solidarity, and deepen skills on risk management, mental well-being, environmental law, climate action, and advocacy. Beyond learning, the process fostered a community of practiceโgrounded in mutual support and collective action.
The focus now is on turning these tools into real impactโstrengthening organizations, amplifying advocacy, and supporting communities on the frontlines of climate and environmental challenges.
UNDP remains committed to standing with women environmental defenders as partners in driving inclusive, resilient, and rights-based development.
With support from the Governments of Denmark, Luxembourg, and the Republic of Korea.
