[๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐]๐๏ธ๐ฟ๐ The Global Environment Facility has approved a USD 6 million grant for the Integrated Management of Small Island Landscapes and Seascapes in the Philippines (ISLAS) Project.
Led by Department of Environment and Natural Resources โ Biodiversity Management Bureau, with support from the United Nations Development Programme Philippines, this six-year initiative will advance biodiversity conservation and climate resilience across Camiguin, Marinduque, and Panaon Islands.
Key outcomes include:
๐ฑ 62,000 hectares of seascapes under improved management
๐ณ 1,500 hectares of ecosystem restoration
๐ 400 hectares of marine habitat enhancement
๐ฅ 3,000 direct beneficiaries, 50% women
โป๏ธ 125,520 tons of COโ-equivalent emissions avoided
The ISLAS Project supports the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan and the country's commitments under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
