Some traditions don’t disappear in a day
they slowly fade when no one is left to continue them.

At Amat-amat, we’re building a space for people who want to learn knitting and become part of keeping this craft alive. In the Philippines, there are only a handful of machine knitters left, and many of them are not getting younger. That’s why Amat-amat wants to build a space where more people, especially the younger generation, can learn the craft and keep it alive. We want to inspire more people to carry this knowledge into the future.

Because knitting is more than a craft.
It’s part of the future of Philippine textiles, and we don’t want the next generation to grow up without it.

Every person who learns today helps keep the tradition alive tomorrow. 🧶🇵🇭

This Amat-Amat workshop: “Introduction to Machine
Knitting Workshop” by AMAT-AMAT PH is designed for total beginners: guided, hands-on, and done in a small group so you can feel comfortable and confident at the machine!

In just 3 hours, you’ll learn:
> Knitting machine parts + basic operations
> How to set up and operate the machine
> How to create a basic knit swatch
> And yes, you’ll finish a shawl to bring home!

Create your own knitted shawl at the Amat-amat Machine Knitting Workshop 🧶

Happening this 12, 19, 26 April, 2026, this 3-hour hands-on session introduces you to the fundamentals of machine knitting from casting on and knitting to casting off, plus basic machine operation and troubleshooting.

All materials are provided just come as you are and experience the process of creating something, slowly and intentionally.

Whether you’re a beginner, a creative, or simply curious about textiles, this workshop is designed to be approachable, relaxed, and deeply rewarding. It’s also a chance to meet like-minded people and be part of a growing knitting community.

Happening on March 28 & 29, this 3-hour hands-on workshop will introduce you to the basics of machine knitting. Learn casting on, knitting, and casting off, along with how to operate a knitting machine and do basic troubleshooting. All materials are provided, so you can simply come, learn, and create your own shawl.

Whether you're a beginner, creative, curious about textiles, or just looking to try something new, this workshop is designed to be fun, beginner-friendly, and relaxed. It’s also a chance to meet new people and connect with a growing knitting community.
