CALL FOR ABSTRACTS:
🧠 A Historic First for Secular Filipino Philosophy!
The Philippines is finally taking its seat at the global table to conduct its FIRST and very own humanist academic conference dedicated entirely to the discourse of secular ideas!

Around the world, secular humanist organizations and non-sectarian universities consistently hold prestigious academic congresses. This year, the 1st HAPI Secular Philosophical Paper Conference creates an unprecedented dedicated space for secular academics, freethinkers, and intellectuals across disciplines to push the boundaries of philosophical discourse!

On behalf of Humanists International (HI), Humanist Alliance Philippines International (HAPI), HAPI Secular & Existential Philosophies, I would like to invite you to submit abstracts dealing with secular ideas in philosophy of religion/existentialism and all the other possible topics laid down below. We're looking for atheist/agnostics/deists/pantheist philosophers to share their ideas at a safe space dedicated for freethinking and potentially become part of the secular humanist philosophical movement - intellectuals who will be able to justify their positions when some hostile believer decides to spread unwarranted bigotry and questionable arguments online.

📌Co-Organized and Supported By: HAPI, HAPI Secular & Existential Philosophies, and Humanists International

⁉️What happens when we pull back the curtain of dogma?

The theme “Discarding God: Values and Reason in a Worldview Without Religion” is a deliberate shift away from systems built on faith, divine command, and supernatural judgment. By stepping outside these traditional boundaries, we dare to ask the ultimate question:

Without a deity, how do we define morality? Where do we find purpose? What becomes of our view of the physical world and metaphysical reality?

In a deeply conservative society that often paints disbelief as an illness caused by the devil or an anomaly, this conference stands as a vital act of intellectual resistance; a place where evidence, critical inquiry, and unconditional empathy become our only source of truth.

"A seat in the Senate is not a private possession, but a temporary stewardship entrusted to those chosen by the people." 🇵🇭

For many Filipinos today, uncertainty has become a quiet but constant part of both daily life and the broader systems that surround it. Beyond the everyday burdens of financial strain, academic or professional demands, and the quiet challenge of simply getting by, there is also a growing awareness o...

Are we prioritizing rigid religious expectations over the actual mental health and well-being of our youth?

“It’s time to choose empathy over shame.”

To every Filipino youth who has felt the sting of someone’s judgment while holding a cold beer or the silent condemnation of a relative for skipping Mass, there is a hidden history behind that shame. We are a nation taught to fear our own shadows, conditioned to view everyday habits as moral faili...

Is God created in the image of man, or is it the other way around? 🤔

In his latest piece, HAPIsko Mark Jaztine Santos explores Ludwig Feuerbach’s projection theory and breaks down how religious doctrines often reflect human ideals, desires, and cultural contexts rather than absolute truth.

A priest consecrates the sacred host and suddenly, it is no longer just bread. It becomes the literal body of Christ. For believers, this is actually the case. However its truth only relies on the fact that it exists solely as a ‘meaning’ or a belief that is projected by those who believe. The b...

Period. ✨

Meaning grows through the choices we make and the attention we give to the world around us, taking shape in both the quiet moments and the obvious ones.

How we show up for others shapes the kind of life we’re building, and that’s reason enough to move with care.
