GEAPHEI hosts general assembly and seminar to empower, innovate grad school students research
Empowering graduate school students and faculty members with innovation-based research, Graduate Education Association of Public Higher Education Institutions (GEAPHEI) held its annual general assembly and seminar at the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, last December 6.
Gathering graduate school students from universities across region III, GEAPHEI aimed to establish a network among its members by providing insightful talks regarding external connections and intellectual properties.
During the event, resource speaker and NEUST president Dr. Rhodora Jugo recognized the researchers as the valuable anchors of innovation highlighting the role of both students and universities during her talk “Propelling the HEI’s Ecosystem Through Institutional and External Innovation Shield.”
“In today’s fast-changing world, HEIs must do more than teach. We must read, research, innovate, and extend knowledge and solutions to society. But we can not do it alone, societal challenges from food security and sustainable agriculture to digital reservation and cultural heritage reservation demand strong internal capacities and open collaboration,” Jugo said.
Also, resource speaker and Head of Intellectual Property Office of Central Luzon State University Dr. Emelie Ablaza also discussed the importance of intellectual property and the awareness of rights during her talk entitled “Innovation Shield: Intellectual Property and Winning Pitches.”
Meanwhile, an open forum discussion was also held at the seminar led by GEAPHEI treasurer Dr. Ariel Bongco in which highlighted topics such as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in writing and research ownerships.
To conclude the general assembly, GEAPHEI President Dr. Warlito Galita also presented the accomplishment and financial reports of the association emphasizing GEAPHEI’s continuous growth and wider reach.
