Connecting with nature is also a form of service.
The volunteers of the BUKSU College Red Cross Youth Council, together with fellow Red Cross Youth volunteers from different schools and colleges under the Philippine Red Cross Bukidnon Chapter, recently took part in a meaningful environmental initiative at Barangay Kalasungay through the project entitled โBINHI: Where love roots in every leaf and every heart.โ
Guided by Datu Nilon Cacay, the activity became a reminder that caring for the environment is a shared responsibility that requires compassion, cooperation, and action.
The first visit was held on February 14, 2026. While many celebrate the day through personal connections, the volunteers chose to express love in another meaningful wayโby giving time and effort to protect and nurture the environment. Together, the participants planted seedlings and helped prepare the area with hope that these small actions would grow into lasting contributions for future generations.
The second visit followed on April 12, 2026, where volunteers returned to monitor the planted seedlings, clean the surroundings, and water the young plants. Seeing the area once again reminded everyone that environmental stewardship does not end after planting. It continues through consistent care, responsibility, and community participation.
More than a tree-planting activity, BINHI became a symbol of unity and gratitude toward nature. Through collaboration among volunteers, schools, and community leaders, the initiative showed how collective action can contribute to a healthier and safer environment for all.
The BUKSU CRCYC remains committed to promoting volunteerism, environmental awareness, and service beyond the campus.
Daghang salamat to all volunteers and partners who shared their time, effort, and heart for the environment.
