In a Hadith, Abu Hurairah ( ุฑูุถููู ุงูููููู ุนููููู) reported: The Messenger of Allah (๏ทบ) said, "When trust is lost, then wait for the Hour." He was asked, "How is trust lost, O Messenger of Allah?" (Sahih al-Bukhari 6496)
As the upcoming 2025 midterm elections approach, we are reminded by this hadith to reflect deeply on the amanah we bear as citizens. Leadership, in any society, is a position of great responsibility and accountabilityโnot to be swayed by wealth, popularity, or familial ties, but based on the integrity and qualifications of those who hold it.
This hadith speaks to the timeless principle that The election process must transcend personal biases, financial influence, and superficial promises. Our collective goal as a community should be to elect leaders who will work for the benefit of all.
Voting is not just a civic right but a sacred trust for which we will be held accountable. To vote with Amanah is to choose leaders with integrity, sincerity, and the ability to serve justlyโnot based on personal gain or popularity, but on who is most fit to lead the community with honesty and fairness.
Voting with Taqwah means making choices grounded in truth, justice, and moral accountability. It is choosing leaders not out of emotion or pressure, but out of a sincere desire to please Allah and uphold what is right and just for the people.
Short-term gains, material offerings, or clan loyalty should not sway us. Such acts corrupt not only the political process but also the moral fabric of society. Instead, we must focus on the platforms, credentials, and integrity of those seeking leadership. In doing so, we uphold the prophetic guidance and safeguard the trust that leadership demands.
May Allah grant us the wisdom to make choices that reflect our values and the sincerity to elect leaders who will act in the best interest of all people, striving for justice, peace, and prosperity. May He guide us towards a fair and just election, where leaders are chosen not for their material wealth, but for their competence, integrity, and commitment to serving the people.
