A NEW MILESTONE IN PARTNERSHIP 🤝✨

ASLP proudly marks the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Onstrike Library Solutions (OSLS). This 5-year partnership strengthens our commitment to enhancing the ASLP website and improving access to the IGM Journal and other digital resources of the organization, ensuring greater accessibility and service for our members and the wider information community.

Originally initiated last year by Mr. Justin Harold Hingco, this collaboration has now come to fruition.

Nica Meriel Gabito is a development practitioner specializing in Development and the Law, and Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ateneo de Manila University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Women and Development at the University of the Philippines Diliman. As Project Management Officer of Connective Paths Foundation, she works closely with women-led community-based organizations in marginalized communities in the Philippines. Her work focuses on advancing community-led development and gender equality through inclusive, rights-based, and gender-responsive programming.

Hezekiah Louie R. Zaraspe, LPT, MA, teaches literature and creative writing at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) and De La Salle University (DLSU). He holds a Bachelor of Secondary Education, major in English, and a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from UST. His fiction, nonfiction, and poetry in English and Filipino have been featured or are forthcoming in Inquirer.net, Rappler, Liwayway Magazine, and Locked Down, Lit Up: An Anthology of Creative Work in a Time of Quarantine (UP Press), among others. He was a fellow of the 2022 UST National Writers' Workshop.

Arthur is a government lawyer and data privacy specialist, currently serving as Attorney III at the National Privacy Commission. With background in both medical and law, he brings expertise in policy review, regulatory compliance, and governance. He is also a recognized leader in the Philippine Physical Therapy Association and has received multiple awards for excellence and leadership.

On behalf of the association and its members, we extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Joseph Marmol Yap on earning his PhD in Literary and Cultural Studies (Library and Information Science) from Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary with a remarkable distinction of Summa Cum Laude. This achievement reflects his unwavering commitment to scholarship, leadership, and the advancement of the library and information profession.

Dr. Joseph began his service with the Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines in 2011 as Public Relations Officer, later serving as President of the Association in 2013, and as Adviser to the Association from 2021-2024 and 2026-2027. Over the years, he has been recognized with the ASLP President’s Medal in 2014, Service Award in 2015, ASLP Professional Award in 2023, and the Presidential Citation Award for Leadership in 2026. Beyond ASLP, he was honored with the Eulogio B. Rodriguez Professional Award by the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. in 2025. He currently serves as an Adviser to the Association and as Editor-in-Chief of ASLP’s research arm, Information Generation and Management.

Steady in leadership, generous in guidance, and gracious in every interaction, he carries himself with a level of optimism, discipline, and composure that continues to inspire those around him.

We are honored to have Mr. Efren Torres Jr. as one of our esteemed speakers at the ASLP Summer Conference 2026 to talk about 𝑶𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉, 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕: 𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒔.

Efren M. Torres, Jr. is the Coordinator for Access and Resource Management at De La Salle University Libraries and Chair of the Library Impact and Assessment Committee (LIACOM), where he leads initiatives on the systematic evaluation of library programs, services, and collections, advancing evidence-based approaches that articulate the library’s impact and value.
A prolific researcher in library and information science, he has published in several Scopus-indexed journals and holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Communication at UP Open University.
