What does it really mean to have zeal for God… and are we actually living it?
Last May 9 at CCF Makati, we wrapped up our Titus Book Study with a session that was engaging, a bit fun at moments, but honestly more convicting than anything else — on Godly Zeal.
The room was alive, but also reflective. You could feel it. The kind of message that doesn’t just inform you… it quietly confronts you.
We were reminded: grace doesn’t just save us, it trains us. It reshapes how we live — to say no to sin, and yes to a life that is self-controlled, upright, and zealous for good works.
But here’s the tension we had to sit with:
Zeal is not always godly.
Truth without passion becomes cold.
Passion without truth becomes misdirected.
Action without God becomes empty effort.
“They have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.” — Romans 10:2
“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” — Romans 12:11
“A people who are zealous for good works.” — Titus 2:14
And the quiet challenge that lingered after:
Where are the men who will not just believe… but step up?
In worship. In service. In obedience. In leadership.
