On this day, October 5, 1907, the miraculous image of Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario – La Naval de Manila was solemnly crowned, honoring the deep faith and devotion of the Filipino people to the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.
The request for her coronation was made by Most Rev. Santiago Paya, O.P., then Head of the Province of the Most Holy Rosary in the Philippines. On April 4, 1906, Pope St. Pius X granted the Apostolic Delegate in the Philippines the authority to canonically crown the venerated image of Our Lady of the Rosary at the Church of Santo Domingo in Manila.
Following a three-day Triduum, the solemn coronation took place on October 5, 1907. The crowns of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus were presented to Archbishop Ambrose Agius, Apostolic Delegate, who solemnly crowned the sacred image before a gathering of bishops, clergy, and faithful.
Today, we commemorate with gratitude this historic milestone and the enduring devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary, La Naval de Manila, whose image continues to inspire generations of Filipino Catholics, Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario – La Naval de Manila, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary and Queen of the Philippines.
