The Rafael B. Buenaventura Microfinance Resource Center Foundation successfully completed the third run of our Business Continuity Planning (BCP) Workshop!

Held on April 21-22, 2026, in the beautiful town of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, this workshop was organized in collaboration with the UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries. The program is designed to empower participants by increasing awareness of disaster preparedness and providing practical tools for business continuity planning.

This particular batch was special for us, as it marked the very first time we brought this workshop to Mindanao. We were eager to reach this region and cater directly to the planning needs of our partner institutions in the area, ensuring they are better equipped to face future challenges.

A total of 31 participants joined us for this session, representing 11 of our valued partners: Cantilan Bank, CARD Bank Inc., CARD SME Bank Inc., CARD MRI, CARD MBA INC., CARD MRI RIZAL BANK, Inc., Cordillera Community Microfinance Inc., Katipunan Bank , K- COOP, RBT Bank, and Surigao Economic Development and Microfinance Foundation, Inc.

We would like to extend our gratitude to our partner, Cantilan Bank, for welcoming our team and participants to your vibrant community.

We have many more training sessions and workshops coming up soon. If you are interested in joining our future sessions or want to learn more about how we support our partners, please feel free to email us at [email protected].

Together, we continue to build a more resilient and prepared Microfinance community.

We successfully concluded Phase 2 of our Cybersecurity Training: Intermediate Level!

On February 20, 2026, IT Managers, Security Officers, and Unit Heads from our partner Microfinance Institutions gathered at the BAP Conference Room in Makati to move from a reactive to a proactive security posture. Building on our 2025 foundational sessions, this phase shifted the focus toward specialized technical controls and strategic incident management.

The highlight of the day was the Tabletop Exercise (TTX), where participants engaged in realistic simulations like responding to a phishing attack involving compromised Loan Officer credentials. By diving into the Incident Response Lifecycle, our partners gained hands-on experience in Detection, Containment, and Recovery, while navigating the strict BSP mandate to report major incidents within two hours. The sessions also delved into securing digital operations through fortified platforms and Network Access Controls, identifying modern threat actor tactics, and using System Criticality Assessments to prioritize the protection of the most vital data.

We are proud to support the following institutions in their commitment to digital integrity: Ahon Sa Hirap, Inc. (ASHI), Alalay sa Kaunlaran Microfinance Social Development Inc. (ASKI Microfinance), Bakawan Data Analytics Inc., CARD Bank, Inc., CARD Inc., CARD MBA INC, CARD MRI Information Technology, Inc., CARD MRI Rizal Bank, Inc., CARD SME Bank, Inc., ECLOF Philippines Microfinance Inc., FDS ASYA PHILIPPINES INC., GM Bank of Luzon, Inc., Isynergies Inc., K-Coop (also known as Kabuhayan sa Ganap na Kasarinlan Credit and Savings Cooperative, Kabalikat para sa Maunlad na Buhay, Inc. (KMBI), and Microfinance Information Data Sharing Inc. (MiDAS).

A huge thank you to our expert resource speakers from UnionDigital Bank, Ms. Bianca Isabelle Asuncion and Mr. Delster TaΓ±edo, for providing the practical demonstrations and real-world insights that our participants found most valuable.

We look forward to seeing these strategies implemented to safeguard the communities we serve!

Last August 29, 2025, the Rafael B. Buenaventura Micro Finance Resource Center Foundation successfully organized a forum on β€œThe Imporatance of Adopting Climate-Resilient Products and Services for Microfinance Institutions (MFIs).

The activity aimed to enhance the understanding and implementation of climate-resilient strategies within MFIs, in line with the climate initiatives and policies of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP).

The forum featured a series of insightful sessions led by our expert, Mr. Ludwig O. Federigan, who discussed critical topics on climate change, sustainable development, and the vital role of microfinance in building products and services that help communities adapt and thrive amid climate risks.

The event was well-attended by various microfinance institutions, reflecting the sector’s commitment to sustainability and resilience.

We extend our gratitude to Kabalikat Para sa Maunlad na Buhay, Inc. (KMBI) for generously hosting the forum and supporting this important initiative. πŸ’š
